What should I do to get my cool start remote working again?

Remote stopped working. Since then car door lock tries to start car in steering column. Now car key isn't recongnized every time I start car, but starts on second try. Need a Crimestopper dealer near me. Live in CT now but installed when I lived in Maine about 3 years ago. Honda says it isn't my car key battery. Also just had to replace alternator and battery.

I take keys slowly out of my mazda 3 2006 ignition to be able to use my remote to unlock/lock my doors. If I don't pull key out slowly I have to lock/unlock using my keys in the door. How do fix this?

Ok I think there's a slight problem with the ignition cylinder that its not fully in the off position and it still thinks the key is there this car is now 13-14 years old depending on the build date on your door sticker so the ignition cylinder has been worn in a lot from years of use so that's why I am pretty sure about this your key has a chip in it and that chip is used to clear the anti theft when you first start the car but if the cylinder is just a little bit off after removal the theft unit still thinks the key is in the ignition and that will cause the remote control to be locked out of the system and you also may have smart lock that will stop the doors from being locked while the key is in the cylinder this feature prevents you from being locked out of the car while the engine is running ok so you can try using the remote while the engine is running and it should not work because it's not supposed to and when you shut it off just make sure the cylinder is fully in the lock position ///try to pull out your key without the steering wheel locking fully if you can this is why the ignition switch in the steering column is not fully seated so if so then that column switch is worn out so there ya go either the key switch that you turn is worn or the ignition switch that is in the column is not fully seating itself and it thinks your still in run mode locking out the remote control eventually you should change that colum switch because it's days are winding down and you could get stuck somewhere when it decides it's done as for the key cylinder if you do have the chip key before you change it beware that the chip needs programming and you need more than 2 keys to be safe in case you loose your keys the others are in the system but my instincts are telling me that it's really the column switch thats not seating all the way ok and one more thing if that column switch was replaced before it might be coming loose if it was bolted in and needs to be tightened adjusted properly to get the vehicle to start and lock the key switch or those rivets are not securely holding it in place see if the switch moves by trying to move it up and down if it moves even 1mm or a 1/64 of an inch that's definitely not seated properly and the definite cause of your problem good luck stephen

1997 850 volvo, when i manually open door with key, the car won't start and lights flash....so now only use the remote, Now remote won't work - had new battery in remote- suggestions on how to lock doors?

Try this trick, push the lock button once your in the car to unlock first then lock then unlock again, your kill switch is activated as anyone could unlock the door with a key, but to be linked together via bluetooth remote is exclusive and good practice if you choose to stop a thief

Remote auto start will not start a 2007 chevy suburban ltz

If the keyless remote works to unlock and lock the doors, then it should start the engine. In order to use this feature, you have to lock the doors (make sure that all door lock by pushing the lock button twice) with the remote by pushing the lock button, then you hold down the start button on the remote for 2 to 3 seconds and it should start. You can start and stop the engine with the remote 2 or 3 times with the remote, after that it will no longer let you use the remote start until you physically get in the car and start the engine to reset the system. Check your driver information center options using the steering wheel controls. There is an option to enable and disable the remote start option.

Remote car starter will not start car

It sounds to me like you're missing a wire. There should be a wire leading to this that sends power to the distributor. If you don't have power to the distributor it won't fire it will just continue to crank over.

Remote not working, why

Sometimes they just stop working, idk why, sometimes the battery dies. Try this: lock the doors with the switch in the car - turn the from off to on without starting the car eight times ending in the on position - the locks should unlock then lock themselves - then press unlock on the remote - the lock should unlock - turn the key to off and remove then try the remote again. If nothing happened, replace the battery and try to program again. if that doesn't work, get a new remote.

My car alarm is blinking but the remote doesn't work. I already replaced the battery to the remote so I know that's not the problem. If I open the car the alarm goes off and doesn't allow me to start the...

you can try switching the key to the "on" position then open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and reconnect after 2minutes. this will allow the alarm to be '"reset" and will recognize that you have the key for the vehicle.
