Wayne: According to Engine-Codes.com, P0191 means Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input.

Possible causes

- Low or no fuel

- Faulty Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor

- FRP harness is open or shorted

- FRP circuit poor electrical connection

- Faulty Fuel Pump

Possible symptoms

- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

- Engine will not start

=======================

P0193 means

The Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor is a diaphragm strain gauge device in which resistance changes with pressure. The electrical resistance of a strain gauge increases as pressure increases, and the resistance decreases as the pressure decreases. The varying resistance affects the voltage drop across the sensor terminals and provides electrical signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) corresponding to pressure.

Strain gauge type sensors are consider passive sensors. A passive sensor is connected to a voltage divider network so that varying the resistance of the passive sensor causes a variation in total current flow.

Voltage that is dropped across a fixed resistor in series with the sensor resistor determines the voltage signal at the PCM. This voltage signal is equal to the reference voltage minus the voltage drop across the fixed resistor.

The FRP sensor measures the pressure of the fuel near the fuel injectors. This signal is used by the PCM to adjust the fuel injector pulse width and meter fuel to each combustion cylinder

What is the fix for codes P0087 & P0191 on a 2012 Hyundai Sonata with a 2.4?

for code p0087 replace the GDI GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION (HIGH PRESSURE PUMP( the pump is in the top o the engine down the plastic cover- they have two gasoline lines an one electrical connector, and 2 bolts . remove return line, remove the electrical connector, loose the 19mm bolt for the main gasoline line dont move this line, remove bolts of the pump and move it away, when you work with gasoline lines is dangerous (it is at you own risk( THE CODE P0191 IS RELATED FOR FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR usually appears with p0087. symtoms of bad fuel pump: long cranking time,,erratic idle. not enough power. no start condition= pump is easy to change=

Ford taurus 2002 diagnostic says p0191 and p1506 light comes on check engine car runs then after time it will die off. had a button in back trunk to switch if car gets bump thought might be cause started...

Hello! the P1506 is indicating a defective Idle Air Control (IAC) valve,,,P0191 is indicating a fuel rail pressure sensor (FRPS) fault...I suspect a cause and effect on the two codes...
Cause= IAC...Effect= FRPS....See photo below...Remove and clean with throttle body spray cleaner before you purchase a new one...It may only be blocked with carbon...Guru..Saailer

Check engine light

Go here and it will tell you how to get your codes. Actually on an 06 you can just turn the ignition on and off 3 times (dont crank the engine) and the codes will show up on your odometer. But here are all the codes. PS you can get a manual on pdftown.com for free too.
