2000 grand am vents on dash stuck on one setting. Ac blows cold and heat blows hot. Blows on face and heat only. Selector won't change setting to defrost, face only, etc.

The mode switch is vacuum controlled , do you know anything about vacuum controls , how to test vacuum circuits ? here is a factory diagnostic flow chart for what to test.

9 Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition, how do I get to the vacuum canister that opens for the heat

Is this an 09 ford expedition? I looked at hvac wiring diagram, it appears actuators are electric. I didn't see any vacuum controls? It is possible the actuator is faulty, but, I'd want to electrical circuits first. Any applicable trouble codes for the hvac system? Some of the national brand auto stores may check codes for free, if there are any.

I have a 2002 Chevy Impala the heat and air comes out all the vents at the same time can't direct it

After looking at the service info for the HVAC system for your vehicle , it sounds like your system lost vacuum somewhere ! The position of the mode doors determine where the air comes out at . The doors have vacuum controlled actuators , on the back of the mode switch vacuum lines are connected to it ! To check for vacuum at the switch you'll need to take HVAC control module out of the dash ! There is also a vacuum reservoir or tank under the dash near the HVAC assembly. You could look under the hood in the engine compartment an look for a disconnected vacuum hose from the engine intake manifold !
