Just did mine today.....Jack up the front as high as possible, remove front passenger wheel, put jackstands under car so it doesn't come down on you, remove the plastic inside fender well by taking out the 2 bolts and 3 plastic toggles, you need to remove the alternator belt to get to the power steering belt so loosen the center nut on the idler pulley/tensioner and then loosen the idler using the bottom nut/bolt to take the tension off the belt, remove the alternator belt first drawing a picture of how the belt is routed on all the pulleys for reassembly. Now loosen the 2 face nuts/bolts on the power steering belt idler pulley/tensioner and then use the nut/bolt on it's bottom to take the tesion off the belt and then remove the belt. Reinstall the belt and reverse everything to get it back together. Put on a new alternator belt on while your at it.

Has this symptom occured several times or just a one off? If the trans works OK I wouldn't mess with it.You know what they say about sleeping dogs! I think Mitsis are not that strong in the auto trans department

fi you bend the dipstick and the aircond pipe carfully away from the altenator and remove the washer bottle, that is enough room to get them out of the engine bay
SOURCE: what type of power steering fluid goes in 2001
When you go to the store to buy fluid, they usually list the makes of cars which that particular fluid is for on the back of the bottle. Why they don't just make 1 for all is beyond me.It all does the same basic thing.Good luck! Greg
SOURCE: Where is transmission filter located in 2001
transmission filter in the bottom of transmission bolted to valve body.you need a large drain pan.place drain plug under transmission oil pan.remove transmission oil pan drain plug.let all transmission fluid drain out then screw back drain plug in oil pan.then you need to remove transmission oil pan then remove filter and replace pan gasket also.make sure you have right amount transmission fluid on hand.buy extra because if you short of fluid you cant drive car if fluid level too low.make sure you get the right amount fluid.torque pan bolts to 96 inch pounds.
