It looks like you can use:

3 quarts of Honda manual tranny fluid (kinda costly)
-or-
3 quarts of your favorite Synthetic blend 10w30 motor oil.

97 honda accord the speedometer bouncing all over and causing the transmission to shift roughly do i need a vechicle speed sensor or a speedometer speed sensor

This car is known for bad Instrument Clusters. Not to say that it is out of the question that your speed sensor could be bad... But 75% of the time it is the Cluster in the 1996-1997 Accord.. Car Part com Used Auto Parts Market

Transmission fluid pours out after warms up

Check fluid level with engine OFF and adjust accordingly. Do not overfill. And use approved Honda/Acura fluid only.

What is the best kind of transmission fluid to put in my car....I have a 1995 honda accord v.6

You must use AFT-Z1. The part number is CA66689. If you use Dexron III a friction modifier additive must be used with it such as Lubeguard or Kleenflo Platinum. This will help change the chemical nature of the Dex III so that it acts like Z1. Dex III by itself will cause damage to the transmission in a 1999 Honda accord. Honda used Dex III in transmissions built up to 1995, but after that they redesigned the transmissions and switched to their own fluid so be careful.

1997 accord lx hard shifting, what can i do?

If it's automatic, drain the trans fluid and clean the magnetic drain bolt. Remove and clean the screens on the two solenoids on the front of the transmission. Honda does NOT recommend flushing your transmission with any solvents. Refill to the correct level according to your owner's manual.

If it's a manual transmission, change your gear oil in the transmission according to your owner's manual and hope it's not your synchros.

Want to change the transmission filter on 91 honda accord lx but isnt sure where the trans pan is

The transmission drain plug is located on the passenger side of the case. It has a square fitting, use a 3/8" drive ratchet and extension to remove it.On the 1994-1997 Accords, there is no way to drain the torque converter, or change the filter, without transmission removal, so as a result, you are only changing about half the fluid. Refill it with 2.5 quarts of Dexron or Honda fluid.

Car jerks a little when the transmission is shifting gears. It's a 1997 Honda Accord.

not sure how rought but traditionally, Honda's are known to shift rough... its kinda their sporty style. I think its funny that the Accord is considered a "sedan", when clearly is not a Taurus or Impala which are purely sedans.

cheers!

1997 honda accord goes in reverse fine but not forward

Check fluid to make sure there is enough fluid in there if there is, then if there is then you may have a bigger problem like a transmission problem or a bad torque conver. check that out and get back to me if you need more help. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA.
