Hi the air bag light can come on as a result of low voltage. Get it plugged into diagnostics that code should clear. Then test the charge rate it should be 13.5-14volts. Regards Jim...

Sounds like part of a wiring harness is shorting to ground or breaking a ground connection. Check engine to frame ground straps and engine compartment wiring. Look for loose or broken leads esp. alternator and battery wires. Perhaps the power lead to the computer is faulty causing the truck to misfire. Any engine codes?

SOURCE: 2002 mazda protege5 auto battery light coming on

I'm guessing that you've tested the actual current output of the alternator then. I'm assuming that the output is between 13-14Volts at the battery when the car is running... If it's too low, then it's not charging your battery at all, too high, and it's frying your battery.... Another thing that can cause this is if you have a short in your electrical system.. that, however, will be difficult to narrow down...

SOURCE: 1998 dodge intrepid battery light and heck engine

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid- the battery light was coming on and off for a few days and then the car just died. We checked and replaced the alternator and the car started right up (we did charge the battery for an hour before starting the car) but when you take the charger off the battery the car slowly dies. Please help?

SOURCE: 2000 ford expadition battery/alternater problem

I have a 2000 Ford Expodition, After changing the alternator for the third and final time, I jump started it several time till I could get it to a repair shop, the owner looked at several things and did a few test. then replaced the #1 fuse a 20Amp Power point fuse that was blown. it has worked fine ever since. BTW he did not charge me anything, made a new firend and customer.

The alternator is monitored by the computer and the computer (PCM) also contains the voltage regulator circuits. You need that scanned by the dealer.

Car battery light keeps coming on when I come to a stop.. I've recently changed the front lambda sensor as the engine management light came on and it brought up that fault

HI,
Plz provide Year+Make+Model of vehicle.

Battery light points to battery or other electrical system malfunction such as the Alternator.

Many Auto Parts stores can test your battery and alternator for free.

Was the light on before you changed the alternator? Check a couple of things: Check the connections if one is loose you may be running mainly off the battery but still show it's charging. Have you checked the battery under a load? Try checking the battery voltage with the car off and turning on the headlights. What does it read? 12.2 sounds like you may have a dead cell or if you have a bad connection you may be draining it. Sometimes a battery may show correct voltage but when load is applied it drops like a rock. if this happens replace the battery. Did the idle change when you changed the alternator or has it always been low?

Battery light on volt gauge is ok new altenator and battery

It is the two or three wire connector on the top side of the alternator. Either a wire has broke before the plug or there is a problem with the plugs terminals. The dealer sells a repair pig-tail if you need it.

sounds like your alternator. if you have a multimeter then turn on your car and turn your headlights on/ac and heater fan on high/wipers on and blinkers on. once they are all on hook the meter to the battery and if it reads less then 14 volts then the alt is bad. or you can just take it to a shop and have it tested.
