After freon charge, AC went WARM

I mentioned to my dad that the AC on my 99 Jetta wasn't blowing as cold as it used to. He told me to come on over, he'd charge it up. After the charge, the AC blowers were working, but they were blowing warm air!! Ack!!! It's the middle of summer!! He tried pulling out the cabin air filter and found nothing wrong there, he vaccuumed out the cavity and that didn't help. He tried letting out some of the freon, thinking it was overcharged... didn't help. Any ideas on why this happened and what else we can try?

My ac in my 2006 saturn ion blows cold air when its under 80 degrees outside but when its over 80 degrees it will blow warm air sometimes and cold sometimes what could be wrong with it

You likely need to charge the AC with freon. If it has been a year or three since you've had it checked, it is probably low on freon and needing to have some added.

I noticed my ac in my 2004 Corolla with 138,000 miles wasn't blowing as cold in recent months. I've never had the AC serviced in the 8 years I've owned it. So I used one of those 12 ounce self...

If this was happening to me.... I'd goto an airconditioning re-gas centre and get them to check for gas leaks. In my old commodore the Evaporator Core was leaking and causing some of the issues you have mentioned.

If the car was retro fitted with R134a this was a common problem. There was a low side pressure sensor that needs to be changed. R134a runs different pressures than the r12.. When you go down the road the condenser cools off the system and the pressure drops below the minimum pressure. You need to make sure that the system is fully charged, not just cold to the feel. Both pipes coming out of the firewall need to be the same temp. this makes sure that the evaporator is flooded.
I hope this helped. Re-post if you need more info. Have a nice day and good luck.

After approx 40 min of highway driving the AC stops blowing cold

The frosting of the line is normal. Did you use a gauge set when charging the unit? AND, most important, Did you evacuate the system before putting in the freon? Very important. What was your final low side reading and your final high side reading?
