The adaptive damping system, adcm. is linked to the abs system. it controles the valves in the shock absorbers to make the suspension hard or soft and i think it adaptes to how you drive. you should take your car to someone with suitable diagnostic equipment to get the fault codes out of the system, the problem is more than likely one of the shock absorbers. the system defaults to hard suspension when a fault is present and puts that warning on. hope that is helpfull.

The DSC light stands for Dynamic Skid Control or in lawmen's terms Traction Control. If the light stays on you have a problem with this system. You will need to have it diagnosed by someone who has the tools and expertise to find the problem. More than likely you are going to have to take it to a Jaguar dealer.

SOURCE: On the 2000 jaguar s-type, what is, Cats system
Cats was a optional extra from the factory. It is adaptive damping. It basicialy softens or stiffens the shock absorbers to your driving style.
It may seem that one of your shock absorbers has developed a internal pressure fault. A local garage with a code reader can tell you wich shock absorber to check. Would be worth checking the electrical connectors that plug into the top of the shock absorber to make sure they are not damaged.
Look's like you may need a new shock absorber
Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must
now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and
"scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the
problem(s) Legend

sounds like it is in get you home because of gearbox failure if its the early box with metal sump check selector cable adjustment it critical as the J gate micro switches and the linear switch on the side of the gearbox have to be in sync with each other. on the other hand if it is the later gearbox with plastic sump, which i suspect it will be, check it has not lost some of its oil due to leaking sump, common problem! other wise check fault codes in transmission control module, any codes relating to incorrect gear ratio means internal falure most times
