Try another key. If it still won't start then you know it's not a key problem.

A freind of mines 1998 Lexus gs400 wont start,

The factory anti-theft system may not like the chip in the key you are using.
You may have to get a new key or have the system tested.

By the sound of it. Can you check the Starter Fuse if its still good. you can visually check this by simply taking out the fuse and inspecting if the fillament is still whole. Any breaks in the filament would mean a dead fuse. To find out which fuse to check look at the underside of the fuse box cover and there should be a diagram.

Another potential problem would be the ignition switch. if thats the case there are a lot of ways to go about this but the cheapest way is to simply create a new lead to the starter and add in a push button switch (if done right it would look really cool since most exotic cars are actually started with a push of a button rather than a turn of the key)

How to set up garage door opener on my 2002 diamante

Detail Instructions from the owner's manual 1. Turn off engine
2. Prepare transmitter by erasing all three of the factory default channels by holding down the two outside buttons until the red light begins to flash. Release both buttons.
3. Hold the end of your hand-held transmitter (garage door remote) against the Homelink transmitter keeping the red light within the Homelink icon in view.
4. Using both hands push the hand-held transmitter button and the deisre button to be programmed on the Homelink transmitter. Do not release the buttons at this time.
5. Hold down both buttons until the red light on the universal transmitter flashes, first slowly then rapidly. When the light flashes rapidly, release both buttons.
To program the remaining two buttons, follow steps 3-5.

The 2006 has an engine imobiliser in the ignition and micro chip in the key fob. There could be a low battery in your key fob. Take your spare key or your good key and hold it right beside the push button when cranking. See if that allows the engine to fire and remain on. If so replace the battery inside the fob. You can do this by pulling the glove box (silver) key from the end of the fob and inserting the tip of the key into its slot sideways to pop open the **** shell housing and expose the internal battery.

Will not start. Engine does not turn over no electrical system working - tried to jump battery no change?

First , check the LED on your car battery, if it is blank you made need to remove and test the actual battery. If there is ANY chance that sparks flew when attempting to boost the car open the fuse box and check the fuses including the large ones.
Third, try a different key, including your flat wallet key in case your key has also failed due to a weak internal battery and will not communicate with the engine immobilizer.
To use your 'wallet key" hold the black card against the dash beside the key slot while turning the key in its slot. This key has an embedded security chip in it as well to allow the engine to start.
If your RX is a 2010, hold the wallet key or your black key fob to the dash beside the ignition button and wait for the LED on dash to turn green. Then push the button.

Post back to advise how you make out.
