Car wont start after leaving key in ignition,ie went to start car, but phone rang, key in ignition, now wont start.this has happened my wife on several occasions. starts fine on a push

Tried holding buttons on key fob to reset, no good. Wont even jump start, but a short bump and away we go, this has happened several times (WIFE) What is the prob, it seem to be a security feature of some sort ONLY HAPPENS WHEN KEY IS INSERTED INTO IGNITION BUT NOT TURNED, ie, the phone rings before she turns the car on. For instance SHE OPENS THE CAR AND SITS IN AND INSERTS THE KEY INTO IGNITION, THEN THE PHONE GOES OR SOME DISTRACTION FOR A FEW MINS AND THATS IT ,CAR WON'T START

Check the fuse box for the starter relay, and pull out to check pins for corrosion / bad contact. The fact it start on a bump with the key on leads me to suspect the start / crank position of the electrics. Get a knowledgeable person to run through the crank circuit with a meter, also check the condition of earth straps and starter cables. Could be the ignition switch is faulty?

Car wont start and key stuck in ignition

Sounds like you are losing the power from the battery. Loose connection somewhere between the battery and the fuse box. The car is going into security mode (which prevents the car from starting). This happens when people change the car battery. Leaving the ignition key on for 10 minutes and the security light quits flashing. Car starts. I would be looking at the battery connections and other main power leads going the the relay center. Good luck.

Most likely a bad battery or battery terminal connection.

Battery went flat now wont take key code in drivers door 1994 p38 range rover.did some engine work battery disconected for about a week. when engine work finished.conected batery started fine. went...

key code lock out usually happens when you have entered the wrong code too many times leaving the battery connected should allow the timer to run down for 30 mins so you can try again, it is cumulative though so the more you get it wrong the longer you have to wait. make sure battery is fully charged first.

I just went out to start my car, and the key turns but nothing happens except the dashboard lights come on. No turn over, no noise.....

It sounds like you ignition switch went out. I had this happen to my wife a few years ago you turn the key the acceseries turn on but nothing else. this will be a trip to the dealer. did you happen to smell something electrical burning the last time you car was working if so it is the starter switch. you will need to take it to the deales an get a ne w switch which will also involve new keys$$$
