Pull the battery cable off the battery for 30 minutes. It will reset. If it comes back, you will have to have it scanned to find the problem.

I have a 2014 Ford fusion and I was wondering how to reset the computer?

You may need to reset the computer (Engine Control Module or ECM) in the 2014 Ford Fusion if you are experiencing performance problems, have recently performed maintenance, or are trying to clear fault codes. Here's how you can do it: Note: Resetting the ECM will erase any stored fault codes and variable learning data, and may affect your vehicle's performance unless it relearns optimal settings. If you're not experiencing any problems, it's probably best to avoid resetting the ECM. How to Disconnect the Battery: Disconnect the negative terminal: Locate the negative (black) battery terminal. Use a wrench to loosen and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Make sure it is safely away from the battery. Wait: Leave the terminal open for about 15-30 minutes. This can remove any residual energy from the vehicle's electrical system, restoring the ECM to normal operation. Reconnect the terminals: Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten it. Reset: Start the vehicle and operate for a few minutes. Take a short test drive with different driving conditions to allow the ECM to relearn its settings. OBD-II Scanner Procedure: 1.1. Get an OBD-II scanner: Buy or borrow an OBD-II scanner. Make sure it matches your 2014 Ford Fusion. Look for an OBD-II port: The OBD-II port is usually located under the dashboard, near the driver's seat. Insert the OBD-II scanner into the port. Turn the ignition: Without starting the engine, set the ignition key to the "On" position. Accessing the ECM: Follow the scanner instructions to access the ECM reset function. This can be labeled "Clear Codes", "Reset ECM," or similar terms. Reset: Use the scanner to initiate the ECM reset. This will clear any stored error codes and reset the ECM

How to fix P0302 and P0401 error codes for Lincoln Town Car 2001?

code p 0302 i cylinder 2 --misfire detected ===causes --- engine mechanical fault ( valve seat insert loose , burnt valve , cam followers/ hydraulic followers faulty)---wiring---ignition/fuel system---injector--ECT/MAF sensor ---ECM
possible injector fault ( blocked tip)
code p 0401 refers to exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system--insufficient floe detected ==== causes --hose leak/ blockage ---basic setting not carried out (if required)---wiring---EGR valve ---EGR solenoid ---ECM
as you admit to knowing little about cars , take it to an accredited service center that works on your make of vehicle and get a proper diagnosis and quote
Use the codes information and causes I have given you when discussing the problem

Help ! A new ECM was replaced on my 1994 Town car. The car ran great before the the computer went down. I had new plugs, wires, a fuel system cleaning, and etc. The car still runs great. It really...

The new ECM may have a different mapping that has caused the loss in MPG. I have not really messed with the Ford ECM's in this way. I have done GM and they have a removable and replacable PROM.

Look into if your ECM was replaced with a new PROM. Was your ECM replaced and your old PROM used. Is there anyone local to you that can reprogram the ECM or can a dealer install a new map program.

Changed my battery in 1999 lincoln town car...car wont start...I think I have to reset the alarm...where is the valet switch under the dash?

try by removing cables from battery, and hold cables together for about 10 seconds this may reset pcm. If this doesnt work your vehicle needs to put on a scanner. Not just an obd one.

a lot of cars from ford have the pats system installed. you could also have some pcm issues, for the pcm has to relearn some procedures. hope this helps !

96 Lincoln town car computer cycle through sensors

the ecm will cycle all of the sensors in the time that it takes you to put it into gear and start moving
on start up you will see all of the required sensors to be checked in the dash lights and when the lights go off , all the sensors are checked
when running any faulty sensors are checked and if the ECM can self adjust to compensate then it will do so
if not it stores a fault code or puts the engine light on

The coil is a standard 12 v ignition coil.
The ecm is located projecting through the bulkhead (firewall) by the drivers feet.
You can access the trouble codes with a scanner plugged into the socket in the engine compartment drivers side or by counting flashes of light on a 12v testing light as described in the Haines Manual
