On a 1999 lincoln continental 4.6 liter 32 valve v8, where is the sensors located are there only one? Problem with coolant coming out of coolant overflow tank?

We do not no if there is more than one sensor or if it's the one in the coolant overflow tank? Because the fans are not running and car is overheating and it has melted the lips of the threads on the lid of coolant tank. What could be the problem? We think the sensor is bad not for sure?Where is the sensor is it in the over flow tank? Are there more than one?

Their are 2 sensors 1 is the ECT this one tells the computer the engine temp so it can adjust fuel and air spark advance ect .
The other one tells the gauge inside what to read hot or cold .
However the sensors are not your problem .You have some kind of blockage in the cooling system .Eighter the thermostat the radidator heater core or mabey a problem with the water pump or a combination of them .
The best thing to do at this point it remove the Tstat see how it runs with out it see if the heat works inside .
The problem is this isn't the kind of thing you can put a bandaid on .
Being 99 unless the system has been serivced over the years then now someone has to pay the price..
You more then likely need to rebuild the entire system thats radiator heater core water pump hoses T stat back flush block and antifreeze with new radiator cap .

How to replace spark plugs in a 1999 lincoln continental

There are 8 plugs in the V8, 4 on each side. Over each plug is a coil that easily pulls off of each spark plug, hence 8 coils. There are two covers--one over each set of 4 coils and plugs.
The front cover has a metal tag on it that reads, "InTake 32 Valve V8". It has two 10 milometer hex screws holding it on. The back cover is the same shape as the front, but is up closer to the window. You will need just the right socket extension to get the back 4 plugs out. Good luck.
