What is the function of the cam sensor on the 325 E36 bmw. can the car start with a faulty camshaft sensor. If so what will the car do

as the cam shaft position sensor works in combination with the crank shaft position sensor to tell the ECM where the piston is for the correct firing and timing
it would be unreasonable to consider that the engine would function with a faulty unit
basically if the cam shaft sensor is not operational then the engine will not start

How do I reset the maintenance light that comes on whem I start the car, it was yellow but know it is red. It is located just under the milage. It is a 95 BMW 325i

My bmw will not start

Need more info. Do you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key to the on position? Does the engine crank over at all?Do your lights go dim when you engage the starter?

BMW convertible (325ic) E36 will not start-security system

security systems simply get between the key and the engine. The wire that is your engine run circuit is cut and and rerouted through the alarm module. Find this alarm module, find the two wires that have the same color code that are spliced into the two wires off the nodule. At this point, Do'nt cut them, jump them to each other and see if it will start. Alarm systems work on the time,pressure theory. In truth , the alarn wiring is stpid and simple. The secret is to put pressure on the thief by limiting the time he has to locate the wiring and bypass it by making alot of noise and flashing lights. Take your time and you can find and figure out which wires were cut and soliced into the module. If you have any questions, let me know.@ [email protected].

If it's an e36, its where the two radiator hoses meet in front of the engine above the belts.

Comparing bmw engine sizes

Hello There

The engine in an E30 325i is not the same as the E36 328i. the 325 has a 2.5 litre engine and the 328is has a 2.8 litre engine. They are from a diffrent era. The engine in the 328i Has the engine code M52 and conpletely redesigned.

Battery charge good; engine turns over; no start up

Crankshaft sensor needs to be replaced. I had the exact same problem on my BMW 2 weeks ago. Exactly the same. It works fine now after replacing the sensor. It's the sensor which tells the engine when to produce the spark.

It could be the engine control module. Try to get a good used module from the junkyard and try your luck. All the best !!

I have replaced my 1993 318isa module two times myself!! GOOD LUCK!

open the bonnet remove the black plastic over on top of the grill and this reveals the back of the grills so you can push themout from behind and not damage the paint.

before you try to start her again in hot weather, open your fuel filler cap, listen for any pressure release, close the cap, and try to start, if this works,then its just heat expansion in the fuel tank, replace the filler cap if this is the case
