Its the round looking solinoid near the throttle body with 2-8mm/10mm head bolts holding it to the upper intake housing.....disconnect the connector and remove bolts, you can clean it with choke spray and a small brush.....or replace it....hope this helps you ...GL

Failed OBDII Diagnstic trouble codes P0761 and O1744 What does this mean?

code P0761-
Possible causes - Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty shift solenoid 3 valve
- Shift solenoid 3 valve harness or connectors
- Shift solenoid 3 valve circuit is open or shorted
P0761 FORD Description Shift solenoid valve 3 is turned ON or OFF by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch, vehicle speed and Engine Control Module (ECM) (throttle opening). Gears will then be shifted to the optimum position. When is the code detected? The P0761 code is detected when the ECM has detected a mechanical fault with the solenoid energized, valve stuck off code O1744- is not a code these are the ones I have found that come close

1999 Ford Windstar. engine stalls.

You know, lookinig at this problem more, you have more possibilities of what may be wrong:
  1. Your idle speed may be incorrect
  2. Fuel filter may be clogged or water and impurities in your fuel system
  3. Possible damaged coil pack or wires
  4. Emissions sytem components faulty (a sensor, catalytic converter, muffler, etc.)
  5. Faulty or incorrect gapped spark plugs
  6. A vacuum leak at the intake manifold or vacuum hoses (check the hoses for cracks or damage)
  7. Fuel injection or engine control systems malfunction (ECM)
This should keep you busy....at least with the easy stuff to inspect.
