That's the best way to do it. Look at the bottom of the relay, #30 and #87 are the ones you want to jump. Remove the gas line from the fuel filter. You probably should replace it anyway.

2008 grand pri remove gas

Yes, a vehicle's fuel pump can be used to empty the fuel tank. Here's how to do it: disconnect a fuel supply line, place it into a fuel-safe container, remove the fuel pump relay, install a jumper wire from the 12 volt cavity to the fuel pump control cavity and turn on the ignition key. If the fuel pump is operational, fuel should be flowing. If the fuel pump is not operational, tapping on the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber mallet may cause the faulty fuel pump to work temporarily. It's important to note that when all of the fuel has been transferred out of the tank, the fuel pump will still be running due to the jumper-wire; this could potentially damage the pump so the wire should be removed as soon as fuel stops flowing. If the tank is being drained for fuel pump replacement, damaging the old fuel pump isn't as big of a concern. Alternatively if the fuel pump is OK and the tank is being drained to access an evaporative emission line, then great care should be taken in order to prevent fuel pump damage. How do I drain the fuel on a 2000 Honda Odyssey? The fuel level is too low to siphon. I’m hoping there is a drain plug or some other easy way to empty fuel tank on this year?!

Fuel tanks do not have drain plugs ,if you can't siphon the gas you could use the vehicles own fuel pump to drain the tank . Find the fuel pump relay in the under hood fuse / relay box . Jumper where the relay plugs into it. Disconnect fuel line at the engine an drain into a gas cans .

Water in 2005 Nissan Pathfinder gas tank yet to start car or turn key over yet. How do I drain fuel tank of everything?

If the tank does not have a drain plug, you could syphon the fuel from the tank from the filler tube, or disconnect the fuel line at the intake and use the pump to discharge the fuel into a container before it gets to the injectors. Water mixed with fuel should not damage the pump.
And there is no filter in the line, only a screen before the pump inside the tank.
Using the pump in the tank would require you to jumper the pump relay to keep it pumping.

How to drain your fuel without removing tank

Try lowering the tank enough to get the filler hose off, then you can get a siphon hose into the filler opening.

Or, you could open the fuel line at the filter, then jumper the fuel pump relay terminals. Pump will turn on and push gas out the line. Careful to get your jumper wire into the right terminals. You can damage the computer if you put voltage into the wrong terminal. The relay will have one hot at all times terminal- find that with a test light. Then you will jump the hot terminal to the terminal that has the fuel pump wire going to the gas tank. The relay should have terminal descriptions on it. The jumper wire goes with the two power side terminals, not with the coil side of relay. Post back if that's not clear.

What's the best way to get diesel out of a 1998

If you could find the fuel pump relay, and figure out which terminals are which where the relay plugs in, then you could jumper the two terminals that are the power source and the fuel pump wire terminal. Then the pump would run. You can break the fuel line apart anywhere that is handy and catch the gas coming out. Another way is to break the line somewhere, pull the pump electrical connector apart at the gas tank, and run jumper wires from a nearby battery to power the pump and empty the tank.

Alot of moisture in gas tank and gas line, want to drain and put new gas in. how would i go about this?

this one isn't too hard. the first thing you need to do is find the fuel pump relay, the next thing you need to find is the fuel rail inlet. i like to use the fuel filter inlet line.

here is what you need.
1. a relay jumper.*
2. an approved fuel storage container
3. a fuel filter line tool

How its done.
1. remove the fuel filter inlet line.
2. place the length of fuel line into the container. **ALWAYS USE AN APPROVED FUEL CONTAINER***
3. next remove the fuel pump relay and place the jumper on the relay circuit in slot number
30, and 87
4.now the tricky part.... have some one hold the fuel line in the container and turn the ignition switch to the "on" position. the fuel pump should run continuously till you are on empty. if not then just keep turning the switch till it is out of full.

the best way to make a relay jumper is to take a small length of 18Ga. wire and 2 blue tang style connectors. stripe the ends on the wire and crimp on the tang style connecters.

1997 Dodge Intrepid has set up for several months while in hospital. Will not fire. Put small gas amount in air intake and it fires and runs for 10-15 seconds. Gas probably not getting to injectors. Pump...

Several months could be a tank of bad gas. When turning the ignition to on position the pump runs for 3 to 5 seconds to pressurize the system, next find the valve on fuel rail and press it, Shield with a rag while doing this. You should get fuel. Check the way it smells, bad gas has an awful smell that can make you hurl! Attach a fuel pressure tester, it should be around 50lbs. If it's bad empty the tank by pressing the needle and relieving the pressure. Next disconnect fuel line before the filter get a container to catch the gas. IN the engine conpartment disconnect the fuel pump relay and put a jumper wire to run the pump until tank is drained. Instal new filter and pump if needed and add a can of "Seafoam" to the tank with fresh gas. Run pump until there's fuel at the fuel rail then put relay back in. now we should have ignition and constant running. Hope this helped.

Draining fuel tank

You need to use a small garden hose and keep twisting it an it will go. The problem is there are baffels in the tank that you got to get around use a little patence and it will go, the smaller the hose the better. If you still can't get it you may have to for go getting the gas out and try to balance it on a floor jack. If you elect to do it that way get some help as it will be heavy and ackward.
