Black smoke is unburned gas. If the car is running fine besides the black smoke, it's most likely the Coolant Temperature Sensor. The part is roughly $20 and an easy fix.

I ran my chev. 1990 pickup out of oil and now it smokes so bad. and i think my fuel pump is going out but not sure??

Sounds like you may have ruined the piston rings and this is allowing oil to seep in to the combustion chamber hence your smoke. Or if it overheated when you ran out of oil it is possible that you have a bad head gasket now. Check both your coolant and oil for signs, oil will have a white froth, or darkening of your coolant. Hope that helps you.

There is white smoke coming out the tailpipe no smell of antifreeze

If it doesn't smell like sweet then you most likely got a bad tank of gas. Just to be safe keep an eye on your engine temp. and coolant levels.

your tail pipe is always going to smell like gas the white smoke is oil being burned from worn out valve guides or rings.

Smoking out of tailpipe and smells like gas and doesnt seem to have enough power

It could be either the engine, catylitic convertor if the smoke is black. If the smoke coming out is white it could be engine coolant problem. If it is not getting enough power it could be the carburator not getting enough gas.

My 1993 chevy luminagets lousy gas mileage, when it runs you smell

. If you are in the car driving and smell fuel, chances are the leak in FRONT of you under the hood, probably being drawn in, by the heater or a/c. Open the hood and look for WETNESS. Don't see or smell it. Get UNDER the car ( safely ). Look around at the fuel lines. You'll find if you look. Hope this helps

Smelling gas in the tail pipe

your catalytic converter is likely not working properly. That explains the raw smell and the black smoke.

Either that or you are leaking gasoline onto the exhaust from the car.
