Does it only happen when you unlock the doors? Replace the door latch, even if you open it with a FOB. leave the doors unlocked and see if it will start. If you still have to do a reset, Then look for BCM fuses. Check them all. Pull them out and check, corrosion. After that is wire chasing. You will need wiring schematics and pin outs for the plugs. Look for the B+(constant power) wires and pin outs. You would have lost power some where.

2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. How to get past the antitheft system on it please.

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

I've tried every recommendation to deactivate the anti theft device..still activated

You can't bypass the anti-theft system. It is computer controlled and there to stop exactly what you are trying to do if you are trying to work a way around it..

If you just went out to the vehicle and you can't get in, or you put the keys in and the Security Light is flashing and won't let you start the car, there are re-learn procedures. This usually involves turning the key to the position before start, (dash warning lights on) and waiting for a chime or a light to flash (5 minutes), then you turn off and do the same again. You do it a third time and there is a chime and the Security Light goes off. A thief doesn't have 15 minutes to sit in the vehicle and wait.

Or

you need an auto-electrician to reprogram it.

How do I get the auto theft light on my 2002ford windstar to go off?

Make sure battery is strong and try leaving key in on position for 5 to 15 minutes. Then go to start. This works on many vehicles - but many are different. If chip key and theft module working leaving key on for several minutes is supposed to be long enough to tell system vehicle is not being stolen (not many thieves willing to sit in car waiting for 10 minutes). If chip key or key "reader" has failed you need dealer help.

Why does my 2005 chevrolet classic theft system keep coming on and then the car won't start afterwards unless reset by turning the key to ACC for 10 minutes then the car starts?

If you have a spare set of keys try using the different key. The identity chip in your key may be shorting.

Otherwise the "Reader" in your ignition switch may be cutting out. This puts it into an activation loop.

1997 chevy malibu anti theft system how do I fix this problem The car won't start I believe the car is in the anti theft mode

The late-90's GM Passlock system (e.g. 1997 Malibu, Regal, Impala, etc.) has a part around the ignition tumbler that goes bad and no longer reliably detects the valid key. In that situation, the "Theft System" light will slowly flash and the carburetor is cut off so the engine won't start. The time-out on the system is 10 minutes - you don't have to do anything, you don't have to disconnect the battery, the key can be out of the ignition -- it's just a time delay. After 10 minutes, the light goes out and you can try again (but if the key is again not detected, the light will start flashing again and you have to wait another 10 minutes)
Someone else, who had this problem, told me to remove all other keys from my keyring. The weight of the other keys pulls on the ignition key causing the key to be unreadable. It has been 7 weeks since I have been doing this and have not had a problem

MM theft system has been activated on my 98 Pontiac Sunfire and now my car won't start. I've checked my trunk for a button and I've removed the alarm fuse and still my car won't start.

I have a 97 Malibu and when the theft system light kept coming on and would only start after letting the car sit for 10 minutes we ended up replacing the complete ignition where the key goes in. Then it was fine. It wasn't cheap either. Sorry, good luck.
