It's basically an owner's decision. Some people like to change it every 1000 miles, others up to 3000 and even more. If you don't know when the last one was, change it. Write down the mileage, and go from there.

Does anyone know of a great place where I can get an oil change for my brand new BMW M3 Sedan?

if i had new bmw i would let only the bmw dealership change oil and service the car period, bmw is a very expensive car every body cant work on them.let dealership do the oil change they the only ones can reset your oil service light, its not easy to reset if you dont know how. most of the time if you have new vechicle the place where you bought the car will cut you a oil change deal.

I don't have an owner's manual for my 1990 BMW 735i... I'm due for an oil change but BMW dealership wants to charge me $200.00 and a local jiffy lube wants to charge me $100.00. My boyfriend wants to do...

yea i think those prices are for a synthetic oil change because thats a lot to charge. that year and model just use regular oil. if yr boyfrind has changed oil before he should be able to change this one the only thing on this one is the oil filtor is not a spin on filtor its inside a aluminum housing on the drivers side of the engine and to take it off is just one big nut that u loosen from the top. all the rest is the same as any other oil change. just let me know if you have any other questions

How do you know when to change the oil?

The oil should be changed every 4,000 miles. You can keep a log of the mileage at each oil change, or just divide the total mileage by 4,000. Change the oil at 40,000...44,000...48,000...etc.

100000 mile service checks/replacement parts on a 2000 BMW 528i

If your talking about what would a dealership change, it generally consists of a tune up, including spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, oil change, pcv valve, and fuel filter. Thats also usually when they want to replace the timing belts. There may be one or two other things specific to BMW, but generally thats what you can expect.

Reverse gone in BMW 328i

Hello.

I'm assuming you have an auto transmission, if you do, then if you are lucky changing your transmission oil might do the trick.

If you want to try this, then you simply need to change your transmission oil drive the car for a few hundred miles and change the oil again, this has in some cases solved the problem but its not guranteed.
