This is a re-post from what I told someone else:
I took mine in expecting to have it repaired and it turns out that it was just the screws along the left and right-hand side of the panel. They were loose. The guy told me that "it eventually happens" and that "it's only a matter of time". He went on to say that "it shouldn't happen again". So, check the screws on either side of the panel right where it's stopping. I suspect that this is prohibiting yours from closing as well.
HTH!
Problem is really the cast zinc "locks" on the sides of the sunroof rails. The screws loosen and allow these locks to pivot and then block the sunroof from completely closing. To fix this and prevent the re-occurrence: 1. With the sunroof completely open. 2. Remove the screws clean the first 4 threads completely clean with alcohol 3. Put some nail polish (or red thread locker if you have it) on those now clean threads. 4. Position the locks in place, insert and tighten the screws. If it is a crisis just push the locks to their correct position and thread the screws as far as you can with whatever you have, fingers will usually get them in far enough to allow the window to close.
