SOURCE: 93 ford probe jerks when going into 2nd

Don't know if this will be of any help, but these cars have the same auto trans as the Mada 626s of the same age and they are a problematic transmission. They tend to blow up. Gerking could just mean it needs a service. ie: low fluid levels or 'worn out' fluid. It could also be an early sign of bigger problems.
We ended up selling our mazda because of the transmission. around $1800 to replace with reco but many people reporting reco trans failing within 2 yrs anyway.

SOURCE: i have a 93 ford probe se the fuel cutoff light is on

when you are traveling about 35 or 40 mph press the brake just hard enough to make shudder let off do it again let and off. if you can control the shudder that way then its the brake if does not do it til you slow to a certian speed then the problem may be engine related. As far as the low idle there is an idle stabilizer which can definitely cause that problem. Or in some case an aged timing belt can cause similar issuses

SOURCE: Want to replace fron in 93 ford probe

1993 is a split year, if you have charging ports are a little bigger than the size of a tire valve stem then u have R12, if they are big then you have R134, most all Ford in 93 use R12. In the picture are adapters for a retrofit to R134, these screw on an R12 port, note the large cap R134 cap on the end of the adapter.

Mark the direction of rotation on the timing belt in case you need to re-install the original belt

i think your water pump is done for. replace pump and the belt and you should be good to go. that lower pipe always rotts out on these vans. might want to replace the coolant bypass hose on top while your at it. it tends to brake around the same time as the lower pipe

I recently installed a new water pump and timing belt on my 93 ford probe is it possible i could have the watet pump turning the way

Very Doubtful. As the belt routing is limited to the space in the cover for the timing belt. And there is not much chance to get it wrong. It is POSSIBLE. but not too.

Ford Probe Troubleshooting

Buy a Probe repair manual and follow the ignition troubleshooting procedure. If you don't have a voltmeter, buy a digital volt-ohm meter (DVOM), doesn't have to be the expensive high-end kind (fluke), many are quite inexpensive. A voltmeter is necessary for any trouble shooting.

Can the timing belt be put on backwards

Belts aren't made like that. A new belt doesn't have a right and wrong way, it just goes on. But once it has been installed and run, then you don't want to take it off and reverse it-always put a used belt on to run the same way as it was taken off. So unless it was a used belt, no it can't be put on backward.

My belt is squealing really bad on my 96 Ford Probe SE 2.0 liter, i replaced the power steering pump, the power steering belt and it is still squealing. Is it a pulley?

Often these vehicles have a spring loaded tensioner, which you would have released to replace the belt. When the spring in the tensioner gets weak, causes a squeak.
