2003 Range rover L322 4.4 petrol shifter locked at P and can't opterate over a night . Please help!

It's urgent My car shifter is stuck at P yesterday and now over a night it won't let off. It used to be like that before but back to normal after a few tries. I'm searching around and find that brake panel things and shift interlock things could led to my issue. Is there anyway to overide or bypass or manually operate or remove what ever that led to the problems ? I think that shift interlock thing is the problem and I want to overide or permanently remove this thing off but I don't know the process. Is there anyone who kinds enough to share, show, teach, guild me from the start to the end ? With photos would make it easier for me. Thanks for anyone help

SOURCE: ABS LIGHT ON, SHIFT LOCKED, NO BRAKE LIGHT.

If your brake lights don't work Its because you blew the fuse  which Is located In the main fuse panel under steering wheel.  Without break lights your rover will fire up nice but wont shift out of park until you replace the fuse.  If your ABS Is acting up It Is also an easy fix.  Disconnect the ABS from each wheel.  You still got all wheel disc breaks that work great but no ABS.  Your other option is  thousands of $$.  If your breaks are weak check your master cylinder and make sure you got enough fluid and that you are not loosing the fluid.  If you notice you are leaking brake fluid because you have to keep filling it up but cannot find a leak anywhere.  I bet I know where It is.  Check your rear break lines and make sure one of them didn't get caught in your rear springs and pinched ever so slightly when you were doing dounuts In the snow.
Good luck,

SOURCE: 1996 Nissan Sentra Automatic shift lock problem

jlcoffell1: From your description, it sounds as though there has been a power source supplied which is not suppose to be present all the time. If someone over rode the interlock, they may have supplied power to the shift solenoid so that it would be the same as though you were applying the brake. It could be as simple as, who ever bypassed the system, picked the power source from the ignition circuit from that control unit. The ignition circuit is a green wire. It goes hot when the ignition switch is turned on. You would look for it to be jumped some how to either the same side of the control unit as the green wire going in, but it would be tied in with a red/green wire. If they carried it to the other side of the control unit, it would tie into the Blue/orange wire.
This is where I would look first.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Good hunting.

SOURCE: rear air bag on my 1998 range rover is not attached

Since your vehicle is a 1998 your struts(possibly springs) are going bad just because of age and ware & tear over time. I'd reccomend taking this to a mechanic to have them check out your suspension, generally new struts and springs all around will cost 300-400 for parts, and a few hours labor. It can be easily done by yourself as long as you have a spring compressor. If you don't have a haynes manual already I highly suggest purchasing one for your car, most auto parts shops have them, and you can find them on ebay pretty cheap.
You can most likely replace the airbag yourself if you get a new rear airbag and install it yourself, but remember to disconnect all of the battery terminals so that the car does not for any reason deploy the airbag while your working on it(very unlikely) but its a good saftey percaution. Personally I would get the rear airbag professionall installed because I'd want to be 100% sure it would deploy in case of an accident.

SOURCE: 2008 Saturn Vue Stuck In

these have a safety system so the shifter won`t go into any gear unless the brake is pushed(indicating someone sitting in the drivers seat),if the brake lights aren`t working this indicates that the fuse that operates the shift lock solenoid and brake lights is not working and needs replacing.check the fuses and replace the fuse and things will probably return to normal.

How to disengage shift interlock when shifter stuck at P

Info on the shift interlock is usually found in the owners manual. If the solenoid that locks the shifter into park fails or the switch that activates it (probably located on the brake pedal since you have to step on the brake to select a drive gear) fails there is usually a way to manually override the system. Your owners manual should have that information.

Or ...do some sleuthing on line with a search engine. Just about guaranteed you are not the only Range Rover owner on the planet this has happened to.
