SOURCE: 1987 Toyota Celica overheats when air conditioning is turned on

Hi

The first thing to check is that the engine cooling fan comes on when you turn on the air conditioning, then you should check the condition of the radiator fins. If they are clogged with debris (dead insects, leaves, etc...) then you will need to get a pressure washer onto it through the front grill and try to blast it clear.

When you switch on the aircon, it puts extra stress on the engine, which causes the fuel economy and engine power to drop, and as a result the engine will naturally run hotter, so it needs a bit of help to cool down in the form of the engine cooling fan.

Regards

Geordie

SOURCE: positive crankcase ventilation system

If built like most, the valve cover will have a fitting with a fairly large hose leading away from it.
The PCV valve (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) is found in this line.

This allows fumes forming within the engine oilways sometimes pushed out by minor blowby of the cylinders to be routed back to the air intake so they combust in the engine instead of being vented into the air, something we didn't worry about 50 years ago.

Should be a hose going to the air filter and back to the valve cover. Near or at valve cover end is the valve.

Try looking under the hood around the driver side by the wheel well. Or on the driver side under the steering wheel, or slightly to the left of it.

I have a 1987 toyota celica gt and brake light on the panel is on almost all the time.

You either have a problem with the break system or your emergency break is on. It could be stuck, even though it is not engaged

Also, where is the pcv valve located?

pcv valves are generally located on top of the engine's valve cover. A tube made of rubber generally goes to it.

Trying to find PVC Value.

The PVC valve should be located on top of the oil cap near to the valve cover.
To remove the valve take off the protective plastic cover and undo the two small bolts that hold the falve using a 22mm wrench.
