Start motor run slowly? The exhaust is near the motor and you will need service it and correct this condition

Starter work but engine doesn't star, Most probably a bad coil

You will need to do a fuel pump pressure leak-down test, the pump must not loose more than 5 PSI overnight, u will need a cheap fuel pressure test guage, the test port is on the fuel supply rail to the injectors on the intake manifold, it looks like a tire valve but metal with a plastic cap on it, u may be able to borrow this guage from Kragen, Autozone or a parts store like them, if not they are very cheap, less than $20 US. Run the engine with the test guage hooked up, turn off the engine and then check it in an hour or so, if it drops more than 5 PSI then u will need to replace the fuel pump in the gas tank. One note make sure the connection for the guage is tight with no leakage or the test is invalid

You will have to have the dealer reset the security light to restart vehicle.Check all engine and chassie grounds because this is where the lighting would exit the vehicle. It sounds like a ground burnt through.

Found no oil in filter during change

Unless you use an anti-drain back oil filter, oil in the filter will drain back to oil pan after sitting for a while. To avoid dry start condition, use anti-drain back style filter. NAPA has them.

It might be your core pack. Try getting that checked at the auto store. Or it could be a gunked up fuel injector.

Is my 1990 chevy 1500, 350 motor fuel injected?

I believe that all cars were required to be fuel injected by the late 1980s in the US. but the only way to be sure is to look at the engine. Is there are big cylindrical dish that looks almost like a tire sitting on the top center part of the engine? if you dont know, try and find the air intake. follow the line past the air filter. When you get to the engine, does it seem to meet with small marker shaped objects, one for each cylinder the engine has? if so, the car is fuel injected. If there is a carbeurator, the dish thing that sits on the top of the engine, the car is not fuel injected

With your Clarifications I suggest having the Fuel Pump Pressure Tested as one other gentleman suggested that it is most likely bleeding down overnight. Another possibility would be the Fuel Filter being clogged. The factory recommendation is to change fuel filters every 30,000 miles. Many people do not even know a Fuel Filter exists on their vehicles. Some years back they were near or in the carb. Weak Ignition would be the last thing to look into as the vehicle runs somewhat normally once started and running for a while. Modern vehicles have Electric Fuel Pumps inside the Fuel Tank. This is somewhat expensive to replace but necessary maintenance after many many miles. Good Luck!
