Yes, my 2004 Jeep GC Laradeo, 4.0 Liter, was idling too high, began misfiring, would overheat easily if not moving, poor mileage. We have the idle air control valve replaced and throttle cleaned.

Helps with the idling, problem. But now it has POOR acceleration, the RPMS jump and fall without any acceleration. Now notice a slight shake of the car. Took it to Auto Zone the meter gave a code of P1763. What could this be?

The overheat problem is the thermostat

There are no provisions for adjusting the idle . The computer through the use of the IAC valve - idle air control controls the idle . There is a base idle set at the factory an should not be changed or messed with . What idle problem are you having ? low or high Could be IAC valve or air passages plugged . High idle the throttle plate could be gummed up an sticking ! If you were to change the base idle you cause check engine light problems .

Start by checking to make sure that the a/c condensor and radiator is not full off debris. If the condensor and radiator were full of debris it will limit the air flow from the engine cooling fan which in tern will cause a high discharge pressure on the discharge on the a/c causing poor or no cooling at idle and could also cause vehicle to overheat. Check and make sure that the cooling fan as well as the condensor fan are coming on together when the a/c is turned on if equipped with 2 fans.

P0303 is misfire number 3 cylinder P0316 is misfire on startup,Go to the number 3 cylinder at idle listen for a vacuum leak like a rupture or disconnected vacuum line more than likely that is your problem you have

make sure your idle air control motor is working, if you give and hold gas pedal a little will it stay running in drive.

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
