Sounds like air in fuel line. Purge fuel line. By "crank", do you mean engine spins but won't catch? Try starter fluid in intake.

All the same on my 2002 grand am se1, fuel pump sounds good and engine spins but no catch,on fuel rail checked with gauge and has 10 psi top even when i cranked key over.relay fuse is good also.

I have since put more oil in my car but a knock in the engine developed because I drove it while low on oil

pontiac cars are mainly junk (sorry but its true) especially grand am. Sounds like you threw a rod or bearing, but don't feel bad it would've happened whether or not you ran it low on oil, you just sped up the process :)

Replaced the fuel pump and filter on a 2001 pontiac grand am se. car wont start is there anything else or filter keeping the gas from going to the engine?

dont know if I can help but make sure the fuel pump comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on if not check the relay under the hood you may need someone to help with this there are 4 terminals when you pull the relay out one will have power all the time with the key on another one will have power for a few seconds when you first turn the ignition on if you have power there and the fuel pump dosent run at all the relay may be bad you can also check the connection by the fuel tank for power when you turn the ignition on also I just put a fuel pump in my sons 2000 grand am and it did not start after I put the pump in but I could hear the pump running but we had only put a couple of gallons of gas in so I put another 3 gallons of gas in and it started I also just put a pump in my daughters 2001 grand am and it started right away but I had put 5 gallons of gas in right away You can also see if there is fuel pressure at the fuel rail on the right side or passenger side of the engine there is a connection to check fuel pressure you can take the cap off and use a screwdriver to push the valvestem in to see if there is fuel there and any pressure. if you have power to the fuel pump and plenty of gas and the pump wont run try hitting the bottom of the fuel tank under the fuel pump with a ribber hammer

Ran car out of gas. put 5 gallons in. no start still.

Hold the gas pedal down all the way and try it every a few times but do not let up off the gas. It could be flooded.

Hi, I own a 2001 Pontiac Grand SE 4 Door. I recently ran out of gas with it yesterday and had to refill the tank with two gallons. After bringing the gas gage back to par, I figured the car would start...

Turn the key to on position. (Do Not Start) Leave the key in the on postion for EXACTLY 10 minutes. As SOON as the 10 minutes is up and the light turns off, then IMMEDIATELY starte the car.

My car wont start. electrical is good but it sounds like when you try and start a car with no gas. my fuel light was on when i killed the car and it had been running fine. it wouldnt start 15 min. later....

Best thing to try is hit the gas tank with a mallet when someone is cranking the car, if it starts it's deffinetly the fuel pump that need changing.

Car wont start after running out of gas

Try a new fuel filter. you most likely sucked up some junk or maybe water from the tank when it ran out. Check fuel pump make sure it runs.
