2002 Hyundai Accent Logo

I just took my Hyundai 2002 Accent to get inspected. The emissions test light would not come on. Mechanic said it would have to go to the dealer to get the computer reset. Does this cost a lot?

There not exist any computer reset that correct a emission out of range. If the car is running without the check engine light comes lit ( it means if you drive the car more than 40 miles and the check engine light remains off) and the emissions are out of the range, is necessary check if the engine is operating in normal coolant temperature ( half way to the top), check if the air filter is free, check for the spark plugs are working properly, and check if the catalytic converter is at least in 13% of CO2. Also check with a scanner tool if have any engine code stored in the memory.

SOURCE: Broken Hyundai 2002 Accent door handles

i have a 2005 hyundai both back doors would not open from the outside . after taking the panel off i found out that the handle is completely plastic and that it had broke in half because off stress . i removed the handle ( which was a pain ) and used quick drying epoxy on the crack . then i put a thin piece if aluminum on each side of the crack and used the same epoxy to hold it on . the next day i put the handles back on ( after letting the epoxy dry ) and it has worked perfect ever since. my next recourse , if it breaks again , is go to ebay . there is a seller if you type in hyundai door handles that sells 2 after market ones for $39.99. they fit 2001 to 2005 . i hope that this helps .

SOURCE: emissions test comes up not ready - can't pass inspection

Under the hood, there is a fuse block. I believe it is on the driver's side of your vehicle. Open that box, and pull the "ECU" fuse. Leave the fuse out for at least 5 minutes. Put the fuse back in, start the car, and let it idle for at least another 5 minutes. Do not drive the car, touch the gas, or even look at the gas pedal for these 5 minutes, as the ECU is remapping itself. This will properly reset the ecu and clear the codes. After this you may drive the car.

SOURCE: Emissions warning light came on. Car runs great

It may be the computer itself. If the light keeps returning, either the computer is faulty or the fans are really failing. I do not recommend dealers but actual mechanic shops.

SOURCE: Need to reset he computer for 99 Maxima for emissions in spection

Resetting the computer is usually done by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes then reattach.

You might check to see that the tire pressure is correct on all of your tires. Advance auto parts has a scanner they will loan you to clear this code yourself.

Hyundai accent 1999 failed emission mot test

there are many
systems in your car that could cause it to fail emissions tests. lucas will not harm your car but it will not fix the problem either. the emission test should give you a reason for the failure. you should be able to track down the problem with step by step procedure for that particular system.
is your check engine light on? any generic scan tool can scan the vehicle data to determine witch system may be causing the problem. could be as simple as a tune up or a faulty o2 sensor.

You just need to replace the sensors. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. If you don't feel comfortable working on an expensive transmission, take it to the dealer.

Immobiliser ?????? so i have been told

If, when you switch the ignition on, you get a dash light on, the symbol is a car with a key overlaid, you have somehow activated the immobilser You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this may reset the immobiliser, If this does not work you will have to contact a Hyundai dealer to get the immobiliser unlock code.

My wife's 2002 Accent failed an emissions test with three times the NO limit. Any ideas on a solution? The garage speculates the catelytic converter, but will charge $80 for a diagnostic test.

Get a diagnosis first, it could be a faulty oxygen sensor, they're a lot cheaper than a catalyst! Worth shoping round for a cheaper diagnostic garage.

Start the car open the hood. with the hood open listen and smell for the leak. Probably the frt exhaust manifold leaking. Independent mechanic can repair just as easy. No need for dealer. If the leak is bad enough you will smell exhause leak. Look for the area with the greatest amount of noise.
