The drivers side seat adjuster will not work properly so the seat sits in a recline position. How can this be fixed?

The seat will not sit properly upright. The seat adjuster part is discontinued. The driver's seat will not sit upright properly so you re driving in a eclined position. It appears the seat adjuser mechanism will require adjusting or replacing but cannot ind the part nor can find anyone with knowledof thisproblem. This is a manuel seat with the recline lever on the left side othe seat so wen you pull on it the seat witll either recline or sit up straight. I want the seat to st up straighter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes? The thing about the Enclave/Acadia/Outlook triplets is that they are all great, but that second row is very uncomfortable. My friend was going to get the Enclave (amazing interior), but went with the Mazda CX-9 instead.

SOURCE: Heated Seats

I had the same problem on my 04 LeSabre. To check to see whether it was the element or the switch, I unplugged both seats and ran jumper wires to make left switch control the right element. The switch and element worked properly. Then I ran jumper wires to make right switch control the left element. The problem was the same, so it was the element was bad.

I had my element replaced at the dealership, since I didn't want to wreck my leather seats. It cost over $400 (about $150 for the element). I guess it just tucks next to the old element - the old element stays in place.

The seat can be disassembles the problem is the cable came off the levers handle and the back part of the seat were the handle is mounted has to be opened up the get to the parts, overwheit or srongly pushing on the seat while trying to chnge the adjustment is the reason for failure. Mosst shops don't have the right mechanics to take aprt seats but an aporstry shop will be able to tackel the job they have the right tools and practice to do thei s kind of work.

SOURCE: 2003 Buick park Avenue Driver Seat Adjuster...

I am working on a solution motor that comes with a new gear and shaft. I have replaced one of them in my 02 Buick and have parts ordered to replace the other one. These are built with larger gears than the original plastic ones. They are still plastic but seem to work well and don't take the skill needed to replace the plastic gear with the brass one. I hope to take video when I replace the other motor in another couple weeks and upload it to youtube.

I am working on a replacement motor that will come with a new gear/shaft on it. I have one of my setups in the car right now and have the parts for another one ordered. I hope to make a video of the repair in a couple weeks when the parts show up. Still uses plastic gears, but these are larger, more durable gears and the swap is fairly straight forward with just a few modifications.

The first place to start would be to have the dealer or someother qualified repair shop , that has a professional scan tool read DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the driver seat module ! The seat adjuster motors are controlled by the driver seat module through the adjuster motor control circuits. In an inactive state both of the motor control circuits are grounded within the driver seat module. In an active state the driver seat module switches the appropriate motor control circuit to battery positive voltage. The direction of the adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the motor control circuits is switched to battery positive voltage while the other remains grounded. During adjuster motor operation the driver seat module also monitors the current flow through the motor control circuits.
DTC B1770, B1775, B1780, B1785, B1790, B1805, or B2415
B1825 , B1850, B1860, B1960, B2355, B2365, or B2375

Memory Seat System Components
The memory seat system consists of the following components:
• Power seat switch assembly
• Memory recall switch assembly
• Horizontal adjuster motor
• Front vertical adjuster motor
• Rear vertical adjuster motor
• Recline adjuster motor
• Driver seat module
• Driver door module
• SEAT 30A circuit breaker
Memory Seat System Description
Battery voltage is supplied to the driver seat module through the power seat circuit breaker. The driver seat module supplies the seat adjuster switch assembly with a battery positive reference voltage. While the seat adjuster switches are in an inactive state the switch contacts are closed to the adjuster switch ground circuit. When a seat adjuster switch is pressed to an active state the switch contact is closed to the reference voltage circuit. Battery voltage on a switch signal circuit indicates to the driver seat module the switch status is active. Each seat adjuster motor is controlled by the driver seat module through 2 motor control circuits. While the seat adjuster motors are in an inactive state the motor control circuits are closed to ground circuit contacts within the driver seat module. The driver seat module operates the seat adjuster motors by switching one of a motor's control circuits to battery voltage. The seat adjuster motors are bidirectional and the direction of adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the adjuster motor control circuits is switched to battery voltage while the other remains grounded.

Memory Set/Recall Operation
The seat adjuster motors are equipped with internal position sensors. The adjuster motor position sensors are monitored by the driver seat module and are used to determine the seat position when storing or recalling memory settings. The horizontal, front vertical, and rear vertical adjuster motors use hall effect type position sensors. The hall effect position sensors are supplied with battery positive reference and ground circuits from the driver seat module. The position sensor signal circuits are supplied battery positive voltage through a resistor them monitored within the driver seat module. During adjuster motor operation the hall effect position sensor provides a single pulse for every revolution of the adjuster motor shaft. The driver seat module counts the pulses from the position sensor signal circuits to determine the adjuster motor positions when storing or recalling memory seat position settings. The recline adjuster motor is equipped with a potentiometer type position sensor. The recline motor position sensor is supplied with it's own 5-volt reference ground circuits from the driver seat module. The recline position sensor signal circuit is referenced from ground within the driver seat module. The signal voltage monitored by the driver seat module ranges from 0.39 - 4.58 volts and is determined by the wiper location on the resistor within the recline motor position sensor. The recline motor position sensor signal circuit voltage level is used by the driver seat module to determine the seat recline position when storing or recalling memory seat position settings.
The memory recall switch assembly on the driver's door provides inputs to the driver door module. Battery voltage is supplied to the memory

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado. The heated seat on the drivers side does not work. When you push the button to turn it on, the lights come on briefly then turn off.

Would you say it stays on about 30 seconds and does the passenger side do the same thing? If possible retrieving the codes will narrow down the search for a correct solution. If the passenger side is ok we may be able to eliminate the passenger side as bring part of the problem. Please advise so will know which way to go with your solution.

Condition/Concern:
Driver and passenger heated seats inoperative or shut off in 30 seconds. There will be DTCs B2435, B2440, B3606 and/or B1825 set in the Drivers Seat Module. The adjustable pedal position sensor, seat recliner position sensor and both heat seat thermistors share the same 5 volt reference internal to the Drivers Seat Module. A fault in any of these components/circuits can make the heated seats inoperative or shut off in 30 seconds, as well as, the seat recliner and/or adjustment pedals may move in short increments when operated. A fault in heated seats, adjustable pedal or seat recliner will affect BOTH heated seats.
Note:: Even if the vehicle is not equipped with adjustable pedals DTC B3606 still may set.

To help isolate the area of concern use the Tech 2 or a comparable scanner and go to "Sensor Data" in the Drivers Seat Module. Monitor the following parameters for being out of range:
Recline Position- Normal range .39V-4.58V
Pedal Position (if equipped) - Normal range .39V-4.58V
Psgr. Seat Heat Sensor- Normal range 1V-4V
Drvr. Seat Heat Sensor- Normal range 1V-4V
If a parameter is found to be out of range inspect circuits for any opens, shorts to ground, or voltage. If none found replace the suspect component.

Please be aware of the following common areas of concern:
  1. The adjustable pedal position sensor internally shorted pulling the 5 volt reference low. Disconnect the adjustable pedal position sensor and see if the heated seats start working correctly, if so replace. Note Important:: The APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) sensor is NOT the adjustable pedal position sensor. Make sure the correct sensor, adjustable pedal position sensor, is disconnected.
  2. The seat recliner position sensor internally shorted pulling the 5 volt reference low. Disconnect the recliner position sensor and see if heated seats start working correctly, if so replace.
  3. An open in either heated seat thermistor circuits (signal or low reference). The most common is the passenger thermistor where it passes through seat connector C305 pin "L" or "K" or C399 pins "R" or "G".
  4. A chaff to ground on either heated seat thermistor signal circuits. The most common is circuit 5475 black/red or dark blue shorted to ground in the passenger seat near the buckle. Note Important:: The heated seat thermistors act differently to "OPENS and SHORTS" than the adjustable pedal position sensor and seat recliner position sensor. The adjustable pedals and seat recliner sensors can be disconnected for testing of the heated seats. Where as the heated seat thermistor circuit must be working correctly before EITHER heated seat will operate. Disconnecting one thermistor, which may have a concern will not allow the opposite heated seat to work correctly, BOTH side must be operational before EITHER heated seat will operate.
Clearing DTCs
If DTCs will not clear when using the Tech 2 or comaparable scanner after a repair has been made, try operating the device in which the repair was made. Example, if a repair was made to the passenger heated seat thermistor circuit, the DTCs may not clear unless the passenger heated seat is operated.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Passenger seat stuck in lying down position.

Use some penetrating lubricant on all pivot points and levers around the recline mechanism, and let the lubricant sit overnight. In the morning, try to work the recline mechanism free. (The vehicle is quite old at this point, and likely parts in the interior need lubrication. These parts should be lubricated annually.)

Passenger seat back will not move either direction

Motor on the seat may have gone out, contacts in switch got dirty or worn, or assembly reached limit and stuck. Try sitting in it pushing back hard and adjust. If not youll need to replace switch,b take seat apart to fix or replace.
