First check the fuses. Especially if all the lights in back are out at once. Then check the bulbs. Sometimes you have to replace bulbs that still look good, but just don't make good enough contact anymore.... A friend of mine had to replace all the bulbs to get any of them to work again. I have no explanation as to why.... Good Luck.... Sometimes on these older cars, just pulling the fuse and replacing it a time or two - cleans it off and gets it to work again.... Much like dirty battery cables can stop the flow of electricity, so can dirty connectors on a fuse, or bulb.

brake lights in rear of car? or brake lamps in dash? ??cluster.ABS? I can't see where your eyes are looking.
if rear lamps fail IN ANY WAY, that kills dead Cruise by design. so fix rear brake lamps first.
so fix the brakes in your other post.

they never need key on to use brake lamps.

I have a 1996 cbr600 f3 and the brake light stays on I've disconnect the rear connector that works the rear brake light an they turn off meaning it's not the front brake Now my question is how do I fix...

Check that the switch is closing fully when pedal is up. There is a small spring connecting the switch to the pedal. If this is ok replace the switch.

Brake lights dont work. even after changing the bulbs. the light on the panel works fine. but the rear brake lights connected to the rear end do not.

Sounds like brake light switch is bad. It's mounted just above your brake pedal under dash. It's a pretty simple fix, unplug couple of wires and unclip switch, reverse to install.

The main panel of lights on the rear of my 98 Mazda have gone out. The turning signal and the rear window brake light work and the rear the side lights work, and the light over the license plate works,...

I have same problem and have found the lower light to have a malfunction in the socket. Mazda says replace brake harness. Cheap fix junk yard but same prob can come back. Also does your cruise work? may be related to switch on brake pedal.

No rear brake light / turn signals on 2001 Chevy Cavalier

The problem is the turn signal/headlight/hazard switch assembly on the steering column which the brake light wiring runs through. The part is easy to change and cost about $50 at most parts stores
