best to change cam and crank sensor as they both need to work together. if either one goes it confuse the ecu depending on how the sensor goes wrong. so will show cam sensor fault. but really its the crank.
The Cam sensor is used for fuel control you have cam position sensor one on the exhaust and one for the intake. The use of a cam sensor improves mixture for each individual cylinder the advantages are gained independly supplied with fuel
The "cam crank" sensor is the "reader" for position and speed of the camshaft. This sensor send informations to Engine Control Unit about camshaft position and speed. If the sensor is faulty engine stops!
cam sensor is only half of the cam circuit, the other half of the cam circuit is the magnet on the timing chain. the cam sensor reads from the magnet every time the engine completes a revolution, what happens is the magnet on the chain will break into smaller piece which makes the sensor harder to read every time the engine make a complete revolution. most likely you'll need to replace the timing chain to fix this.
Check this out.. The cam sensor wires and the Ignition coil wires CAN interchange.. If you reverse them.. It'll blow the ecm.. In other words.. you can plug the coil into the cam sensor by mistake.... Look into that.. thank you
