According to Ricksfreeautoadvice.com: "Here's how to adjust the switch to get the codes to go away 1) set the parking brake 2 Remove the air filter box assembly so you can access the transmission range switch. 3) Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the vehicle. Move the shifter to the neutral position. 4) Align the alignment holes between the switch and the shift lever. Insert a 5mm drill bit into the adjustment hole to verify the proper alignment for the neutral position. 5) If the bit won't fit, the switch is out of alignment. Loosen the bolts and move the switch until you can insert the drill bit. Tighten the bolts to 96 INCH/lbs." I hope that helps.

that code is for main three way catalytic converter below efficiency bank one .you need to change the catalytic converter.

P0422 general evap failure i tested gas cap and it failed replaced gas cap and repaired a vac hose to the purge soilniod light comes back on within 10 min of clearing it

2001 kia sephia check engine light on ODM system MIL command status fail diagnostic trouble code present P0422

We had our check engine light come on and stay on. We took it to our mechanic who has a machine that reads codes. You need to find out what the problem is relating to the diagnostic code and then you can find out what kind of repairs you are looking at. Our code turned out to be an O2 sensor that he said would do no harm to the car at all other than slightly affect our gas mileage. If the check engine light comes on and flashes on and off you need to go directly to a mechanic as this is a more serious problem.

A good start would be to go you the Diagnostic Trouble Codes list at http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/vw/vw.dtc.table.htm

The DTC's, also known as fault codes, may have other meanings but the list above should point you in the right direction.
