In my Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 limited I put a credit card in the ashtray and it got stuck and fell behind the ashtray pull-out and I cannot get the ashtray out or behind the tray area. How can I get behind the ashtray?

Did the same thing in my 2012 Sante Fe Limited. Dealer wanted $137 to fix. Read this post and a few others and fixed it myself. It is tedius, painstaking work, but can be done in 30-40 mins -- carefully. Need a long, thin, flat-head screwdriver (or two). Gently pry the decorative wood paneling piece that surrounds the ash tray starting at the far right side (near front passenger door) and then left side (just to the right of the ignition) and gradually and gently make your way to the center from both sides. You'll basically be prying these pressure clips out of pre-formed slots in the dash. These clips are attached to the decorative wood panel and hold it in place when fully-seated. It may be helpful to pry the plastic molding from around the ignition switch just a tad as well. As you reach the center, prying gently from both sides, pull the entire assembly (ash tray is attached) out toward you. You may need to turn the ignition on and have someone else shift the transmission out of park to allow you to get the entire assembly completely out (Be sure they have their foot on the brake!). Once it's out, you can remove 6 philllips-head screws on the top of the ash tray assembly and remove your credit card, coins, or whatever. Replace the cover and 6 screws and then reverse the process to replace the assembly in the dash. Start from the left side since there is a small tab of decorative wood (plastic) that fits UNDER the plastic molding taht fits around the ignition. Once you get this aligned, attempt to align all the other clips with their pre-formed holes and then gently tap the assembly into its holes across the entire length. Some light force (I used my fist like I was pounding on a table) will likely be necessary to get it to properly seat all the way in.
