Has 5 year old fuel pump and new air filter and new fuel filter, fuel pump does fill fuel bowl fine. obd2 tester reads no codes, all fuses are o.k., truck ran fine when it got parked it rained for 3 days went to start it and ran normal for 10 minutes then began to stall out like it wasnt getting fuel. i drained fuel bowl refilled truck starts and instantly dies with service engine light on. now takes time to start and still dies
When I had a similar problem with my fuel injection vehicle it turned out to be the egr ( exhaust gas recirculation ) valve. My car would be hard to start then when it started would stall. This won't show any codes
When the engine dies the Check eng light is supposed to come on. You need to do a fault code test on the OBD2 engine control module.

This sounds like a fuel pump check valve problem, if the fuel is not kept in the filter and lines by the check valve it drains back into the fuel tank and causes the kind of problems you are having, you can check this by hooking up a fuel pressure guage at the test port on the fuel manifold that supplies fuel to the injectors, run the engine and shut it down, note the fuel pressure at shut down (with the test guage hooked up), walk away for an hour, come back and check the pressure, it should not have dropped more than 5 PSI You can buy a universal fuel injection pressure tester for about $25.00, cheaper than having a shop run the test. If the pressure drops you found the problem, bad news is the check valve is in the pump, the pump is in the gas tank.

what codes were there stored????? do you remeber???? autozone only gives you the basics on the codes i can get in depth on these

does it have spark? you did verify fuel pump working properly? could it have a clogged converter? is the engine lite on?

Fuel injected or carb? Make sure fuel line itself is clear. Some pumps are designed to self regulate (carb systems) some continually pump and a psi regulator sends back the excess fuel back to the tank (fuel inj systems) If the line is obstructed then pump can't deliver fuel fulltime.
If you think pump is not on consistent, try running a dedicated wire through a switch directly to the pump. If it works then you are looking for an electrical fault going to pump. Good luck.
Here are the most common causes of idle surge, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
