When car is turned off. Radio stays on

I have replaced the Starter, checked fuses, and checked the relay. Radio wont turn off. Killed battery once already. Turned car off one night, and it made a popping noise, and radio turned back on. Cant seem to find anything about it anywhere.

Got your message, you said you had already done that. What? The ignition switch... the ignition key tumbler? I still feel it's one or the other. The radio is powered by the Ignition Switch ACC position and stays 'ON' during the "RUN" position. Radio's usually stutter a little when juice is going to the Starter.

You got it Toyota! It's the connector. I want to share a story with you. You probably know that Nissan is the first month on the Japanese calendar and that before that they were know as Datsun. Interesting story was told to me many years ago about the engineer who developed the first car they ever designed and sold. When the German engineer was asked about what he intended to call the car, he didn't give it much thought. When finally told the Frankfurt Auto Show needed same the very next week, he exclaimed "DAT -SOON."

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch to me. These models have the ignition switch linked directly to the key tumbler. If you have the habit of having a heavy key set dangling from you ignition key, then it's likely. You may also need to replace the key tumbler. (That means you have to carry an extra key on you keychain, once to start it and the other to open the doors and trunk unless you pay an arm and leg to have the whole car rekeyed to the same lock.) Open it up and take a look... if you see any brown discoloration on any wiring or the key has a lot of wiggle room; technical term, then it's likely.

Just got done replacing that. Problem Still there. I'm having to unhook my battery every time I'm done driving. Even if I put the battery back on it turns the radio back on.

Yesterday I replaced the ignition switch thinking it was that. After I got your comment today I replaced the ignition key tumbler, Which came with another ignition switch. Replaced battery connection. Started car up. Turned the radio back on, cut the power to the car and took key out. Radio Still ran. When I unplugged the connector to the tumbler the radio turned back off, could it be a short in that specificconnector?

My 2006 buick lacrosse wont start radio and lights work but its not saying nothing when i try to crank it

Hello! Do you hear a click when the key is turned?...If no click is heard either the ignition key, the Crank relay, the starter, or the battery are suspect...Having lights and radio does not mean the battery is capable of running a starter motor......Put a meter on the battery...should read 12.5 volts...Turn key...Does voltage drop to 8 or 9 volts? Bad battery...If all is well with battery and connections to it...Check the starter fuse # 33 in the under hood fuse/relay box...If the fuse is good that click you should hear is from the Crank Relay in that box...If all of the above is OK connect your meter to the Purple wire that is connected to the starter motor...When the key is turned 12 volts must be on that wire...If there is the starter motor is defective...So, #1...Do you hear a click when key is turned...That would point at a bad starter or weak battery...#2...If you do not hear a click bad fuse #33, bad Crank Relay, bad ignition switch...#3...If fuse is good Bad Crank Relay or Ignition switch; Crank Relay is a low cost item ($10)...Replace Relay...Stop there and send a comment as to results...Guru...saailer

Put in park turn key but dos not turn over

do you have power? lights work, radio plays at same time? when you turn key do they all stop or lights go out? if so then you most likely have a bad starter selonoid. check this first. If all above still work and stay on then check the park switch starter relay located under hood in the fuse relay box. I believe # 6 on the relay side, try replacing the relay with the #2 relay and see if it works. #2 is air cond relay. Best of luck, make sure all battery and starter connections are tight and clean.

2001 Camaro Z28 5.7L V8 wont start. Battery is showing full charge, Have not had any starter noise or problems, Ran fine. When I turn the key, most of the dash lights go out, but some stay on, dome light...

Sounds like a battery cable problem. Check the battery cable terminals for corrosion and tightness. If those are fine, have a load test done on the battery.
Here is some troubleshooting tips:

Battery terminal connections loose of corroded. Check the cable terminals at the battery; tighten cable clamp and/or clean off corrosion as necessary.
Battery discharged or faulty. It the cable ends are clean and tight on the battery posts, turn the key to the On position and switch on the headlights or windshield wipers. If they won't run, the battery is discharge.
Automatic transmission not engaged In park (PI or Neutral (N).
Broken, loose or disconnected wires In the staging circuit. Inspect all wires and connectors at the battery, starter solenoid and ignition switch (on steering column).
Starter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear. II manual transmission, place transmission In gear and rack the vehicle to manually turn the engine. Remove starter and Inspect pinion and flywheel.
Starter solenoid faulty.
Starter motor faulty.
Ignition switch tautly.
Engine seized. Try lo turn to crankshaft with a large socket and breaker bar on the pulley bolt.

fuse 8 40a supplies power to starter relay and ignition switch, to close the starter solenoid and engage the starter which draws directly from the battery. check to see that the starter relay is closing, if not ensure that the park neutral switch is not faulty (open circuit), it provides path to close relay (ground side) on the 85 - 86 terminals. if the starter relay does not close the starter will not run. if you have a spare relay swap out the relay for a quick fix attempt. hope this helps

2000 Cavalier won't start, making fast clicking sound w/ ignition

Low voltage will cause the problem you are having, get the battery charged, and then have the alternator checked for the correct out put,13.65 to 14.25 if it is not in this range give or take a couple of volts, replace it,I would have the battery replaced also,so you won`t have the problem again.Have a shop replace the battery,if you do it yourself, the memory could be erased if certain measures are not performed.

2006 Jeep Wrangler won't start

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

Yes they do but I would rather think you have a bad battery cabe connection to the system, sometimes the battery cable corrudes and you can't see it try replacing the cable ends and the connector ends espically if they are by the battery.
