Check to see if any relay is hot or warm when everything is off, thus draining battery. It could be the central locking relay, or just a bad diode in the alternator.
I had that problem the other day
Battery dead charged it fitted it started car central locking for other doors only let go after I drove the car down the road
So it might work for you as well
Hi I wonder if you can advise me ,my central locking and alarm is very unreliable it keeps making a beep before the ignition goes on and clicking,it sometimes sets the alarm off,Ive had the AA round and theyve told me the car battery is dead, which I appreciate, but think the key hub central locking or alarm is running the battery low does the hand held button need a new battery,or can I take the fuse out for the central locking, dont want to pay 66 quid for a new battery if I can pay 2 quid for a new battery for the central locking button,or demobilize it
There is a computer under the glove compartment that controls the locking system in your car that also works with the alarm system in your car and if that computer is not working properly that is the reason why. If that computer registers that the car was not open properly that it will deactivate the starter
i had the same problem and i fixed it yesterday. you will have to strip the door down and remove the central locking unit. expect about a 3-4 hour job (at least). check this site out taligentx.com: Passat - Door Lock Mechanism Repair. its **** hot. mine had rotted inside, i tried to resolder it but it was to corroded i ended up soldering wires to the circuit board and splicing the into the loom on the door.(bit of a botch but it works great) you can get a second hand unit if you cant fix it for about £50/£60 or pay a garage about £300 to do it. believe me it was worth about 4hrs and gettin peed off to save the money. hope this helps. emptyed : )
