I had a complete tuneup and carb rebuild and the next day I almost ran out of gas (had to take my wife to doctor - emergency) and this problem started, mechanic can't figure it out. I'm not sure running low on gas caused the problem because the car also shook very hard when idle after I brought it home from the mechanic after the tuneup and rebuild and before I ran low on gas. Mechanic made some more adjustments, still idles a little rough but not as bad as that time. Already replaced fuel filter and pump but the bucking/jerking is a real issue as I am unable to keep speeds above 50mph.

had a problem with a grand prix like that once, was the fuel filter, and injectors, all needed replaced, and it only had 89,000 miles.
Would check fuel filter first. Is it possible you got some bad gas??
SOURCE: Hello Experts,
to reset the computer simply unplug the battery for about 30 minutes.
However, you have a different problem I believe. you need to check your plugs and wires/coil packs. A fouled spark plug will cause rough running at any speed.

This happened to me at 53,000 miles. Its your air flow sensor. This runs at about $200 for the part plus labor.
