I have a 92 ford EB no dash lights and will not start

If I get this right, you replaced the harness and computers? Ford liked putting their security chip in the Instrument panel. If you didn't get that with the rest, go back and get it. If you can. If not, you'll have to take it to a dealer to be reprogrammed. Some locksmiths can do this also.

Have a diagnostic scan done at your local auto parts...they usually will do this for free. See if any codes come up related to the problem you are experiencing
I would go for the obvious and do a full tune up, especially changing out the fuel filter.

no red light only thing on is check engine

Your alternator should be recharging at 13.5 - 14 volts DC. I would say that is what makes your battery flat if you are only recharging 8.5 volts. Replacing the alternator would be indicated. Since that model car was only produced in Australia and New Zealand I dont know the availability of parts in your area. I did locate one on Ebay.AU for AU$188.00 with the shipping and could be posted to you. You may check your local auto garage as to the possibility of rebuilding the one you have......Mike

try a jump start with proper leads ,then if it starts ok run engine and disconnect neg battery terminal now if engine stops renew the alternator if it carries on running renew the battery

Apparently the vehicle was in park enough to get the key out, but not enough to get it to turn to start or allow the remote starter to work. Once it had been jiggled around and put ALL the way into the PARK position, all works well again!

Check that ALL body and equipment grounds are clen and tight. First thing I check always. And normally, that's the problem. A faulty ground not completely finishing the circuit.

Sorry mis-read the post, based on what you say the motor for the the transfer case is most likely defective.
