2009 Equinox rear hatch has no manual latch and the remote will unlock all doors except the rear latch

Yes, you should be able to use the key to unlock the rear hatch of your 2009 Equinox even if the car battery is dead. The lock cylinder for the rear hatch is likely located on the outside of the hatch itself, or it may be located on the door handle. latch and lock are jammed from the hit will probably need to pry hatch over or lift while unlocking to open than adjust hatch or latch for proper working order also check relay and fuse hit may have also damaged wiring

Lock/unlock motor may be failing. Remove the door panel and remove the connector from the lock motor. Check the dc voltage at the connector while pressing the lock switch. If you see battery voltage, replace the motor. If the voltage is low, inspect the wiring.

the release at the bottom of hatch can be ---rusted normal in northeast --- linkage popped or broken --linkage clip popped or broken --- need to crawl into back and remove the plug [ lower center of rear hatch panel will need a long screw driver and light will see linkage and latch push down on linkage arm and push open hatch when opened you can remove the rear panel and assess the problem but lube the latch and upper window latch

Go inside the rear hatch area remove the trim panel and manually trip the hatch release.

Most likly is the rear hatch latch it self. should be to much money to do youself youll have to remove any int panles on lift gate unplug latch there maybe a rod or two connected to latch couple bolts and pull it out

I've had the exact opposite issue with my 2005 Equinox.
My rear door is locked and will not unlock.

it should unlock if you hit the unlock buttonn on the remote twice,,one time unlocks only the driver door 2 times unlocks all doors,,,does the hatch open at all?if not maybe the latch solenoid is bad

1. Remove the liftgate trim panel.

1. Disconnect the liftgate ajar switch electrical connector.

1. Disconnect the liftgate latch actuating rod.
   1. Open the clip.
   1. Disconnect the actuating rod.

1. Remove and discard the liftgate latch bolts.

1. Remove the liftgate latch.

1. NOTE: Make sure the liftgate latch release rod is not preloading the latch. It should be clipped in a relaxed state with no slack.
   NOTE: Position the liftgate latch release rod by pushing outboard to remove the slack.
