Want change gears and the speedometer don't work and in side on the dash all the gears has squares around them

The Uno dash has two small Allen bolts on the sides of the gauges. Unscrew them, and gently pull the instrument cluster forward and out of the dash. The speedo cable has a plastic clip that holds the cable to the speedometer. The clip unclips from the speedo with a gentle pull away from it.

Id say its a loose connection or the meter might need to be replaced.

Sounds like a speed sensor, I will look into that, but if the speedometer isn't working, its either cable, or electronic. Being a 2000, I'm guessing electronic. Chrysler have a lot of electronics on the transmission, as they are electronic themselves. I had an alternator go bad and my battery died, and the car wouldn't shift, it actually down shifted while driving. Have your battery and alternator checked first, then sensors. Like shift silinoid, speed sensor etc.

Either the cable got disconnected somehow behind the dash, the cable broke, or the plastic gears wore out. If yours is digital check fuses.

it could be a blown fuse, check the fuses in the fuse box.........cheers.

If you have over 100k miles the nylon/plastic tip of the speedo cable might have broke off and or pulled out of the square hole that drives it. Although more rare you may have one of the gears on the side of the tranny worn. If you replace one make sure you use the same color. They use different colors for different applications like rear end ratios, tire size changes etc.

When it was starting to go did the speedo show solid or did the speed meter **** between say 20 and 40 over and over (example only)? If so the cable got so dry that it froze in place and caused the nylon end to break or bend and push the cable out of its hole. Years ago you could buy kits maybe some special place like JC Whit might have one. If it got dry you can simply pull it wire out of the cable, clean and lubricate it well when you slide it back in make sure you twist it as you go to spread the oil around.

If you have a low miles car and you find the speedomter gear teeth are worn off it also could have a dry cable. Don't replce the gear without lubricating the cable or you will soon wear out another gear.

A jerking speedometer is a sure bet that the cable is running dry. Some will even tick or slap as they travel each circle.

This may sound crazy to you. Check the fuse that controls the speedometer, cruise control and interior dome light. My 93 f150 battery was going dead every night. One morning I noticed the dome light inside was still on. I couldn't get it to go off so I pulled the fuse that is under the dash on the driver side. Light went out and so did speedometer. When I drove it later that day it wouldn't shift from low until I let off the gas. Then it would shift around between gears for no apparent reason. It took me a day of two to put 2 and 2 together. When I put the fuse back in, the speedometer started working and it started shifting normally. I finally took the bulb out of the dome light and now all is well.On the 93 f150 the speedometer is electronically linked to the transmission shifting points. You may have other fuses that are linked to your transmission.

CHECK YOUR VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR WIRE FOR DAMAGE.OR THE MAGNET GEAR ON TRANSMISSION OUT PUT SHAFT IS BROKEN OR DAMAGE.IF THEY ARE GOOD YOUR PROBLEM IS IN THE DASH.BROKEN SPEEDOMETER.

if the pinion bearings in the gearbobx are worn they can chew up the drive wheel in the gearbox for the speedometer
