Sounds like an internal gearbox issue so other than changing the transmission oil there is little else i could advise so it will need to be inspected by a mechanic , sorry no easy fix that i can think of

Hello. It seems your vehicle's transmission has to be rebuilt/replaced. Any automatic transmission that won't 'shift' from 1st gear into 2nd or 3rd gear has a 'worn' slave cylinder that 'slides' gears one way or another. 1st gear works yet 2nd and 3rd don't. is it auto or manuel have you tried topping up the gear box oil it sounds to me as if there is not enough in it when you go down hill the oil is going to the sender unit in the box thats if its an auto which in turn lets the gears change
you fail to menyion what kind of car and which engine. I can only guess that this is what is known as spark knock which can be caused by several things, most common would be low octane fuel. another more critical cause could be improper timing.
What you need to check is the transmission release bearing because if there is a clearance on the release bearing you will encounter this problem and also check the transmission oil.
