95 deville 4.9L does it or does it not have a crankshift position sensor? I keep getting conflicting answers??!! Some say yes, some say no, and some say it's the same as the hall effect/cam sensor?!

IT'S A SMALL COMPUTER CHIP INSIDE THE DISTRIBUTER CAP. IT'S COSTLY--YOUR BEST BET--LIKE I DID--IS TO FIND THE WHOLE DISTRIBUTOR AT A JUNK YARD AND REPLACE TO WHOLE THING.

it is located in the distributor and i suggest just replacing the whole distributor because there is a piece pressed on the top so you cannot access the sensor.I had the same problem so i replaced the distributor with one from the auto wreckers and it fixed it. there is a plug right on the side of the distributor that piece is the sensor but it involves dissassembly of the distributor. hope this helps.

Hall effect sensor is activated whenever a magnet piece goes close to the flat surface of the device.

It looks like semiconductor (transistor). Depending on the application the sensor can be used to send digital signal. If multiple tiny magnet pieces with separated distances made to pass through, either in circular position or in a linear mode, the pulses are created.

Take the distributor cap and rotor off! There are two screws,one on the back and one on the front of the distributor! Remove those and the hall effect pick up comes right out of the top!

crankshaft postion sensors are located by the harmonic balancer pully or under the pully on most cars you must remove the harmonic balancer you will need a removal tool and installation tool both can be loaned to you by autozone
