When you turn the key to the on position do you hear a buzz from the rear of the car for several seconds? If not possible bad fuel pump or relay or fuse. If you get the sound check the ignition coil for spark. Pull the coil wire and have someone crank the engine for you Observe if there is spark going to ground. You first need to know which system has failed.

Check the security (anti theft system). If the coding does not match the key the car wont start. This assumes that the engine can turn over with the starter.

the plug into the pump cud be corroded--pull and clean--chec fuses--pump may need replacin--must hav about 35psi--

1998 bmw 740il will not start

check battery cables.make sure they are not loose are or corroded.if battery cables okay.problem could be faulty starter - electronic immobilizer control - ignition switch + check its fuse first.if you disconnect battery cables besure to turn off radio so you wont lose code.
