Spray with 'Jigaloo anti-seal squeal' noise spray. Spray the door seal, the lock, the running board gaps and fixings. It is a remarkable dry silicone spray.
have you recharged battery ? and are there any codes coming up on OBD ? possible it's a power relay (ticking),when you open door your lowering power needed for interior lights .
There is no other release. Take it to a mechanic or the dealer. Or else just force the door open to reach the cap. Is it just a door cover or the fuel cap itself?
its the door switches they are sticking and telling the car door is open. open and close both doors a few times and make sure they are closed good and try again to make sure it is setting properly you will know cause the care dome light will go and it will emit a short honk when activated!! =) mine just did the same thing
More than likely you accidentally disabled the feature if you have already checked the fuses and they are good.
Your owners manual tells you how to re-enable the power deploying running boards .
I'll paste a copy of the directions for you :
***********copy***********
Enable/disable:
To enable/disable the power running board feature, refer to the Message
center in this chapter.
• When this feature is disabled <OFF>, the running boards will move to
the stowed position regardless of the position of the doors.
• When this feature is enabled <AUTO>, the running boards will move
back to the correct positions based off of the door positions.

Power Deployable Running Boards (if equipped)
This feature automatically deploys the side running boards for easy
entry/exit from the vehicle or for cleaning.
1. To disable/enable the power
running board feature with the
vehicle in P (Park), select this
function from the SETUP control for
the current display mode.
2. Press the RESET control to select the running boards setting as
follows:
• AUTO: the running boards will automatically deploy when a door is
opened and automatically retract when the door is closed,
• OUT: the running boards will remain deployed regardless of the doors
being open/closed. This setting can be used when washing the vehicle, or
accessing the roof rack. The running boards will stow and enter AUTO
mode when the vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph ( kph),
• OFF: the running boards will remain IN regardless of the doors being
open/closed.
Check the hose connected to the drain for the condensor. It's behind the passenger side carpet on the floor by the firewall. (pull the carpet back from the top. Then you will see the black rubber hose on the bottom) It just gets pushed back on. Passengers kick it off some times. The noise drove me NUTS till I found it. It makes a hissing noise while running, then a tin can noise when under power/acceleration.
If the running boards are out before start your vehicle, open door,go to your fuse box and pull the fuse. The back of the panel will tell you what each fuse is for and location. This'll keep them from retracting.
Something similar to that was happening with our Odyssey...the beeping when you are driving whether it's ongoing or intermittent is the "safety alarm" letting you know the door is not closed. The power lock is not engaging. What I do when I get the beeping while driving is hit the Door Close button. It causes the door to attempt to engage again. To fix it...we first cleaned out the space below the side running board (kids were hiding crayons and things in there), then looked for any obstructions along the top and bottom tracks. I sprayed a lubricant along the tracks (I'd suggest the dry lube kind...I used WD40 the 1st time and had streaks of it dripping down after driving), use a lube that has a long straw to spray in small places...and spray up into the track that runs the length of the middle of the car. Manually open and shut it a few times to get the tracks lubed, then try it out. If you press the open OR close button by remote or in the car and get nothing...no movement/no noises/no beeping...then it could be the electrical circuit itself, the signal itself may be impeded...or the motor shot. Have you tried any of these suggestions before?
Are both doors closing tightly? Perhaps one is just loose enough for it to send signal that it's open. Even try sitting still with vehicle running and open one door at a time, and push lever of button that trips it, in with your thumb, to see if it stops. if you come across one that doesn't do it instantly, or it goes on /off with slightest movement, you probably found the culprit. Let's try the free/cheap/obvious things first.
