Why would only one out of 4 marker lights work?

Noticed driver side amber marker light not working and both driver/passenger marker lights inside headlight assembly not burning as well. Checked and all three bulbs where blown so replaced but still none would burn. The side amber marker light for the passenger side still works so checked all fuses and none where blown. Thought maybe a bad ground but shouldn't all four lights be on the same circuit? Any suggestions as to the cause and possible fix?

Recheck the plug ends on those lights, Look for corrosion or rust. Most of the marker light plugs are universal. replace the plug.

Testimonial: "You where correct the sockets of the non working lights had become corroded. I bought replacement harnesses for both sides. Found when I was replacing them that the connectors themselves had corrosion as well. Used a small precision screwdriver and some spray electrical contact cleaner to clean the contacts. Once done and connected up the new harnesses all light are working again. Thanks Randy for pointing me in the right direction."

You are right all marker lights come off of one fuse, inside instrument panel, number 29, a 10 amp fuse my manual does not give a lamp number, it has a chart, head lamps (high) lamp 9005 60 w type a, headlamp (low) 9006 51 w type b, front marker lamps 5w type d, for the rear it says to use a lamp 7443 21.5 w type d, I do not use these, I have special lights on mine, hope that it helps

HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK, BUT HIGH BEAMS DO AND SO DO TURN SIGNALS AND SIDE MARKERS

The HID requires a ballast, did you do any rewiring? Did you check the fuses? Unplug the relay either hi or low, use jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87, the lamps should work, I'm talking about your regular lamps. If they work with the jumper, then check control side of relay.

Weird tail light problem

HI Matt,
Your issue sounds like a fault, most likely in the rear lights. Current is feeding from the brake light circuit, into the running light circuit. The most common causes are a bulb filament broken and touching the running light circuit, and loss of ground.
observe the rear lights closely and you should get a clue as to which light is failing....but if not, just pick one....
I would run a temporary ground and test again, if no results, pull the brake light bulbs...
Transient current is often difficult to wrap your mind around, until you understand what can happen.

If you have a test light, you can check for power at the light sockets and connectors. If you have power, you can connect the alligator clip on the test light to the positive side of the battery and test for a faulty ground...Good luck!

How do I change the front side marker light bulbs?

Bi-Xenons - 6000K D1S
High Beams - Osram Nightbreakers H7
Fogs - PIAA H11 Yellow Ion
Cornering Lights - Osram Nightbreakers H3
Front Park Lights - High-Powered LEDs with built-in resistors
Front Signal Lights - Sylvania Silverstar 7507A ST (Silver Bluish but lights up Amber)
Front Sidemarkers - InviSilver W5W (Silver but lights up Amber)
Rear Signal Lights - P21W Stealth Bulbs (Silver but lights up Amber)
Reverse Lights - Sylvania Silverstar 7506ST or Error-Free LEDs
License Plate Lights - C5W Error-Free High-Powered LEDs
  • Turn the engine off and approach the side of the porsch with the burn-out side-marker light. If you are replacing both, start at either side; the replacement procedure is the same.
  • 2 Remove the screws from the plastic fender liner. Peel back the liner to access the area behind the fender.
  • 3 Reach your hand inside to gain access to the side-marker light's backing. Push the backing forward to release the side-marker lens; it's held in place by small clips.
  • 4 Grab the lens on the outer side and turn it over to access the back. Gently turn the bulb to release it from the plastic lens.
  • 5 Pull the bulb straight out to remove it from the electrical socket. Insert a new bulb, but do not touch the glass part of the bulb with your hand.
  • 6 Push the new bulb into the side-marker lens. Turn it clockwise to install it. Push the side-marker lens back into place. Apply gentle pressure to the lens to pop it back into its mount.
  • 7 Replace the screws along the edge of the fender liner.

Had a problem with a right, amber side marker on right side

Usually one of the holes in the marker light where screw goes in, has metal contact where screw meets light, but if not, and they are not push in wire connection type from behind, then just run your white wire up through hole in housing, and bare the end & tighten it up under screw holding light to body. White should be ground, brown should be power.
