Symptoms of a Bad Crank sensor in 96 Monte Carlo Z34?

Try changing or switching out the distributor. Most likely getting hot and shuts down. Does it crank but no start whenever it stops? May only start when it cools down again.

Sounds like a problem with the key switch, probably the security system. You may only have power to the fuel pump when the engine is cranking.
Is the security light on or flashing ?

If you are driving the car and it wont start after driving awhile. Do a wiggle on the CKP (crank position sensor) this sensor is located at the front main engine pulley, I am seeing a lot of loose male to female connection shut car off.

If the fuse is getting hot, you most likely have a bad connection in the fuse block. It will be necessary to repar the connection so it makes good, solid contact with the fuse. There are fuse block repair kits available through most AC Delco parts suppliers or at the local GM dealership.

Hello: WHEN IT DOESN'T START THAT IS THE TIME YOU NEED TO DIAGNOISE THE PROBLEM. A INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE NEEDS THREE THINGS TO RUN- AIR, FUEL AND SPARK. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE. CHECK FOR SPARK TO THE SPARKPLUGS. IT COULD BE THE ENGINE COMPUTER , THE IGNITION MODULE. IT COULD BE THE CRANK SENSOR. WITHOUT HANDS ON DIAGNOSIS I WOULD BE GUESSING.

Check your fuel pressure. And your fuel pressure regulator.

crank shaft sensor, as soon as car warms up, it will skip (engine stutter(, then when engine cools, so does crank shaft sensor. Good Luck

try changing the fuel filter, may be starving for fuel

turn key to on postion and leave for 5 mins no less and not more. get a watch. then start car

if you remove the battery and charge it than reinstall (make shore all lighting and non essentals are off) and if the car runs for awhile then the problem most likely is with the alternator
