The obvious question is where exactly is the water inside the car, and is it cooling system, rain or car wash water? You should be able to determine which it is by smell/taste. Cooling system water pretty much has to be coming from the heater rad and should be building up on the passenger side floor pan. If that's the case and you have temporarily bypassed the rad, the water leak should eventually stop as all the water leaks out.

the easiest way to by-pass the heater core is to take off both hoses at the fire wall and use a piece of hard tubing to insert in both hoses and use hose clamps it's quick and easy and should get you by. make sure you top off the coolant and do this with engine cold.

SOURCE: no hot air from heater, blower runs fine

The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.

Since you state the 2 things you ruled out, that leaves only the water pump. Is the car running hot? The thermostat may be sticking as well... but im leaning toward the pump.

SOURCE: I HAVE A 1998 CADILLAC DEVILLE AND NEED TO REPLACE

Modification done by inserting generic T fitting into 3 way junction (Heater Core, Water pump, Surge tank) and using heater hose instead of pipe. Bye the way; the return pipe from the surge tank was not leaking so I did not bother to replace that pipe. I am watching the hose to make sure that pressurization swelling does not cause chaffing of the hose. The original replacement pipe was $80 and this modification is a fraction of that cost. The labor savings is significantly more important & valuable since this pipe requires the engine to be dropped (cradle installation) in order to remove and reroute the pipes from the firewall side of the Northstar V-8. There are two hard to reach attachments on the block that make it a maintenance nightmare. The resultant elevation of the hose to the surge tank and back does not inhibit surge tank functioning, at least not at this writing. I am keeping a close eye on everything. Experimental, but very doable fix.

1996 cadillac deville I by passed heater coil but water is coming from somewhere else and is running on floor it's not heater coil and what ever it is its draining my radiator so car over heated

To by pass the heater coil, you must connect the two hoses going into the heater coil. Did you do this? or did you just plug one hose line? best to replace heater coil if it is leaking to get heat working in winter.

that is something for a radiator shop to deal with, you really don't want to get involved with it, you have to take almost the entire dash out to remove it.

Can i by pass the heater core

i`m guessing that you are talking about the heater core blew and you have coolant on the inside of your car.you can bypass the heater core by disconnecting the hoses that connect to the heater core and connecting a hose connector between the two hoses and your done.however if you need heat you won`t have it until the heater core is replaced.

My 1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville heater blows cool air and engine is running at normal temps. It never seems to get up to temperature.

If you are not the original owner, the previous owner may have bypassed the heater core. The heater core is like a small radiator that has hot water running through it from your motor. It is inside of your dash board, near your a/c and heater controls. That is how yur car gets hot air. The air runs through the heater core making it hot. Bypassing it is a cheap and quick fix for a leaking heater core. When they get a leak, they leak all inside the car down to the floor board. Check under the hood along the fire wall. If it is bypassed, you will see two hoses spliced together. One will be bigger that the other slightly. If this is your problem, you are more thatn likely need to replace your heater core

Heater cores out

Take both heater hoses off and hook them together with a piece of pipe and a couple of hose clamps.
