Under the hood there's a 12 volt battery access terminal you can connect jumper cables to. Otherwise, you'd have to fold down the rear seats and dig around in the back to get at the battery. Toyota was kind enough to think ahead for such an eventuality. By the way - it's in your owner's manual somewhere.
jump car under hood on left side remove fuse box cover on top remove red cover hook red jump cable there and ground to motor if dead. if key fob is dead hold fob on start button while starting
hi there, my Toyota Prius 1999 hybrid car shows tortoise sign after running on highway, and the screen shows low charge/almost empty( empty yellow color battery ), then it starts charging again and back to normal charging level and become green, I come across this when I drive on motorway or after finishing high speed zone. can anyone explain it?
Sounds like your starting battery is going dead. You may want to either go onto Prius Chat's website and search for this: 1NZ-FXE Charging - for self install directions. Good luck!
The Prius has a small 12 volt battery for starting the computer. It is easily discharged if something is left on or a door is left open. Your owners manual will show you where to charge or jump the car from under the hood in the fuse box. Or you can access the battery in the right rear trunk area.
hows your battery?,for the engine, not the electric motor,Prius, normally dont have any quirky issues with electrics, and behave normally if the car batery is flat,ie...it will behave like any other car if the normal battery is flat or old, check by jumping,(fuse box under hood has terminal for + and put neg(black) on suspension bolt ) 3 each strut top. That should work to see if thats your problem
Unfortunatly, the Aux Battery on Prius is susecptible to premature replacements. All the Aux battery does is "power-up" the various ECU's which in turn allows the HV battery to start the car. The AUX battery does NOT operate the starter.
