How do I connect ht cables for 2y engine 1996 Toyota hilux from distributed to plugs?I don't know the order.send me the diagram.

This manual has the head main and rod torques

Turn the engine clock wise until top dead centre look at where the rotor arm is pointing that will be either 1 or 4 the rotor should turn the same way u can work out from there

firing order is 1-3-4-2 , but for this to help you will have to know where the HT cables connect from ,as you haven't mentioned year i don't know if youv'e got a distributor or coil pack/s , you may already know the position for the HT cable at the coil end, so the firing order is all you need , any more info req'd just post

Not difficult just dirty donkey work involved ,best advice is to put it in a garage unless you have the right tools

Remove No. 1 spark plug turn engine over till you feel compression on No.1, line up marks on crank pully and timing gear cover , fit distributer making sure rotor points to No. 1 on dist.cap rotate distributer till contacts just start to open .start engine and reset with timing light.

at ICONS, lost your operators guide? that tells true meaning
seems so.

is it fuel injected , EFI? (-E is EF)

now the Generic answer.
1: low compression on all or 1 cylinders.
2: bad spark or timed wrong, (gas engines)
3: wrong fuel rates, (too much or too little)
too much is misfire, too little is bog.
on diesel too much is black cloud.
too little bogs.
there is a simple test for each, path.

Follow these steps:
1. Loosen off the distributor coil.
2. Connect the timing light lead clip to cylinder marked as number 1 cylinder spark plug lead.
3. Connect the red wire clip to the positive battery terminal
4. Connect the black clip wire to the negative battery terminal.
5. Put the gearbox is in neutral, and pull the hand brake
6. Start the engine
7. Turn the throttle knob until the engine is revving at 600rpm
8. Check the crank pulley, and look for the crank pulley mark, if the mark is not visible switch off the engine.
