You may want to check first if you are loosing or have inadequate water or cooling fluids on your radiator. There may be a leak or the radiator cap may no longer prevent the steam from escaping. check the radiator fans if they are turning. You can check the fan if it is working by pulling out the temp sensor at the lower radiator hose near the engine. The fan should blow at full once you unplug it. Check also the water pump in the engine if there are leaks. You may have it replaced.

This is what happened to mine. I bought it used and was fine for a few months then started overheating. I could not see any visible leaks anywhere. I finally decided to take it to a mechanic to have him put in a new water pump for me as I figured this must be what it is. He called the next day and said I needed to come and look at what he found. I had a cracked block where the water pump bolts to the block. It was very hard to see but somehow he spoted it. Thank God for extended warranties.

There might be a leak somewhere in the system especially if you have to keep adding fluid. I would pressure test the system and that will tell you whether or not there is a leak, It could be anywhere there. After that then I would test all of the components if there is no leak.

Why won't my 1999 jeep Cherokee limited V8 4.7 liter stop overheating?

A possibility is the water pump. This is what circulates the water through the engine and back to the radiator for cooling. Water pumps consist of several vanes attached to a rotating shaft. If a few vanes are broken, you'll get reduced water circulation, causing overheating.

How can I get my Jeep started after overheating it?

Sounds like a blown head gasket. That too will overheat the cooling fluid and press it out. But after the engine stops, toy won't get enough compression to start again. Consult a tech(firm)

1995 jeep grand cheerokee laredo 6 cyl. randomly dies then takes anywhere from five minutes to hours to restart

The only component I know of, that shuts a Jeep off while idling or driving 40mph down the road, is a bad crank sensor. Usually when it starts going bad, it will sporadically shut off, like yours does. Eventually, it will just die and the Jeep will not start at all. Have it tested and replaced, if necessary.

2000 jeep grand cherokee, when idling keeps overheating have replaced radiator, water pump, radiator hose ,cap & thremostat, and relay. as long as Im driving the temp stays at 210, please offer...

Since you have already changed everything that you have, I can not think of anything new that might cause your Jeep to overheat. Are you going by the meter in your vehicle or doing separate temperature measurements? I had a defective temperature gauge that caused me to chase my tail till I did separate measurements.

Jeep Overheating?

I would suggest you have the radiator and cooling system pressure tested . .another option would be to get a new radiator cap and try that. If you want to do a quick test for the radiator cap .. try loosening it to the first notch and see if your overheating problem subsides ..
