Are you sure the coil is bad and not a problem with the module in the distributor, you could try unplugging the tan wire with black stripe, connector near distributor and see if it starts, in 26 years ive seen alot more module failures than coil failures.

Check the ECM if it has the number 1228253 on it, this is what is wrong with it. Gm trashed all of these bad ecms. Get a 16198264 as they do not cause a cutting off problem . Get a delco ecm , aftermarket units will give trouble and may be a rebuilt 1228253 which is junk.

Ram 1500 239 runs about 8 to 12 miles then backfires and looses power let sit a while and run good for acuople more miles before running bag again

It sounds like your ignition coil is overheating. Once it cools down it will fire properly until it gets hot again. Replace the ignition coil and you should be all set.

While cranking loud backfire than i restart engine again than it cranks than starts up,this happend about 6 times during 3 months. Car did same thing yesterday, but it just cranks won't start 98 olds...

Not sure if you have a 1996 Cadillac Seville or a 1998 Olds Aurora but I would check the Ignition Coil Packs. One or more of them may need to be replaced. Also if you were working on the car and got the wires plugged onto the wrong coils then the firing order sequence would not be correct and this can cause a misfire or backfire conditon.

Ignition wires cannot rest near the primary wire harness of the ignition module, which can cause electrical interference and a no start condition or a misfire condition

On my friends 1997 Cadillac Seville it was easy to replace all 4 coil packs took less than 30 minutes and made the car run much better. Just make sure to get the firing order right. If necessary find a diagram of the correct firing order for you vehicle.

I have a 93 tempo 4 cyl. It starts on occasion. When its not starting, it turns over and fires/backfires/ pops but doesn't run. Sometimes pumping the gas pedal or flooring it gets it to run. It sputters at...

I would first begin with a good tune up with new plugs wires cap, rotor, check coil. injector can be clog also, try to add bottle of fuel injectors cleaner and add 93 octane of gas fill it half way and run it til empty and see that will also help. If you have high miles like over 100k have timing check, its good idea to change timing belt every 75-10k miles, if it jump time due to worn belt, the car will not run properly.

'93 olds Cutlass Supreme eng died now not firing.

Its not the packs, I am pretty sure that is the distributor in the engine, (the one the coil pack hooks up to) I thought I knew my stuff until a 15 year old neighbor kid came and fixed my sundance that way, that or its a loose battery wire. hope this helps, have a nice day, and drive that thing like it was meant to be driven!

93 astro van suddenly died

Check that connections are clean and check battery voltage with a meter...If battery has less than 12v in it, likely you have a bad alternator.
