Car won't start and starter is only making clunking noise

You can take out the spark plugs, keep track of your spark plug wire order, try to crank it over see if the engine turns over.

Check voltage on your new battery, some need to charge when new.

check for corrosion on the battery and starter cables.

The car turns over but won't start. just had a tune up, new plug wires, air filter, spark plugs. fuel filter. sounds like a clunk from the engine when it's turning over.

possibility that who ever performed the tune-up messed up the firing order and now it does not want to start and you get a clunking noise from the engine is because of this.

My 1992 jaguar won't start

Check to make sure the firing order on the wires is right. Also make sure the wire from the coil to the cap is tight and well connected at both ends. I have also forgotten to put the rotor back myself more than once..If you have both spark and gas..it has to fire. If one is missing you don;t go....

Misfires, sticking 2-3 selonoid in tranny, and sluggish to start

I would make sure the engine is properly tuned. The miss fire condition could be making the transmission run poorly. Once the miss fire is repaired , then recheck the transmission.

The miss fire can be caused by several things after the tune up is done. The ignition coil, the fuel pump and filter , the computer , injectors do carbon up.

So when getting the tune up ask to have the injector cleaning done. The injection cleaner for the engine is from the dealer . They have a special cleaner . This is a common repair per Chevy to have the injection service done.

Good luck

89 Jaguar XJ6 engine not turning over

it could be an ignition switch, when it happens try wiggling the key while holding it in start position. also is there a clicking, or a clunk sound when problem arises, if there is then the starter solenoid is bad (most starters have the solenoid mounted right on it) so replace starter if you here a click/clunk noise w/starting
